The system is broken. G5 gets screwed every year.
Houston had a real shot last year. They’d likely had been in if they finished undefeated. They started the year I think top 10 if not then 15 and had two big OOC matchups. They beat Oklahoma early and were I think high as 6 before losing to Navy. They later beat #3 Louisville. They may be the only team that has had a legitimate shot at CFP. Possibly only team that ever will.

UCF didn't move in either poll this week. Gosh, and they seemed disappointed that they didn't play better against us. You'd think from their postgame reactions that they'd drop out of the top 20.

Wish we could beat conference opponents 49-24 and find reason to complain. Must be nice.

I'm tired of hearing that crap from opposing coaches. UCF played as well as they could. It is what it is. They're 25 points better than us, no more and no less.

If Memphis, USF and UCF can hold serve for one more week (particularly Memphis against SMU) it seems like the AAC almost has a lock on the NY6 bowl bid.

Boise is the only real threat and whoever wins the AAC will have more quality wins it seems.

The system is designed to work exactly the way it is working. In CFB, the powers that be, only want certain teams to qualify for the playoffs. They do not want Cinderella in the playoff. Each P5 conferences has only a select few teams that will ever have a chance to qualify for the playoff. Not all CFB teams are created equal. Only teams in the top of the CFB pecking order will ever be considered for the playoff. That's just the way it is, fair or unfair. Know your place in the CFB landscape and appreciate what you have because there is always a team worse off than you.

Is ND better than the next 5 teams behind them? And while UCF could maybe be higher that GT cancellation will really haunt them if they beat USF convincingly.

So last AAC game is Army-Navy on Dec 9. Final CFP Rankings Dec 3 so I guess even playing GT then wouldn't register.

Well Notre Dame did blow USC out...

And I’d say they are clearly better than Wazzu.

Notre dame lost to #2 and #7. That’s a better resume than your TCUs or Penn States.

"Texas pushed the 2017 game to 2023 and Hurricane Irma took away your game against Goergia Tech? lol sorry all about the non conference" - CFP committee.
Too bad UCF doesn't have any quality losses.

Happy Wisconsin isn't in the top 4, they ducked USF as well. Pushed 2017 game to 2019 this past summer.

I can’t imagine a scenario where the AAC champ doesn’t get the NY6 bowl - no way a 2 loss Boise St team would be ranked higher than a 1 loss AAC champion.

All the focus is on UCF not being higher in the CFP rankings but realistically they’ll never make it over a 2 loss P5 champ anyways (let alone Miss St). NY6 bowl revenue will help the conference and profile.

I'd imagine that beating USF (a T25 team) and then beating Memphis in the title game would bring them close to top 4. UCFs got their two strongest opponents left. I don't think theyll get top 4, but they'll be darn close. If they'd played and beaten GT I think they'd be in
