There was some ridiculous and I mean ridiculous talking head consensus that Tristen wasn’t a “true” point guard.

Think about how stupid that is as we sit here today.

I think he’s the best player in the country.
To be fair, while Newton had 14 more assists all of last season, the offense ran through Andre Jackson for most of the season. A sound argument could be made that AJJ was the primary facilitator.

Calhoun himself said he had concerns about point guard play for the team going into the tournament.

He was wrong. I know it’s probably blasphemous to accuse our goat of being wrong about anything, but he was in this case. Everyone who said we didn’t have a PG was either ignorant, or couldn’t accept Newton being taller than our traditional great PGs.
