I saw on verbal commits we offered 6-10, 220 lb center Bourama Sidibe today. He is a 2* at the moment. He can clearly block some shots and seems to have a couple of decent post moves and can actually shoot the short jumper it appears.

Composite ranking actually has him a 3 star at #167. He has plenty of high major offers such as Cuse, Maryland, Texas, WVU, SMU, Oklahoma, Cincy, VCU.

We really do need a solid big it's been way too long and hurts the program. Not sure how this changes but they are involved with some hefty names so let's see how it plays out, but having a 5 that makes a difference is huge for the other 4 guys let's be honest. If they don't need to pay attention the spacing is not as expected.

The more I watch it the more I like his feet. At just under the 30 second mark on defense very impressive.

Wouldn't get too caught up in the rankings on this guy... Everything that I've read points to him being a fast riser. Word is that Kansas is also involved with him.

Don't get caught up in the rankings? You realize this is the Boneyard and people will make immediate assumptions on a player and our entire program based on a single number... without having seen him play for a second.

Feel like this shows we don't have confidence in our too big men targets

thats not true at all. you realize after this year Uconn has only 3 'front court' players on its roster? Enoch, Diarra, and Durham. You need players, even if they are projects, to fill out the team. the staff is in great position with their top center prospects and it behooves them to chase 'upside' bigs too.

Kid has a solid left hand for a big and looks like good hands, both big requirements for growth from a big. Need a big, kids getting better and has some nice tools - no problem with this crystal ball being right.

Add him polley and Hami and I would be happy with our 17 class. Not lights out but a solid class.

That's lights out. Hamidou would be one of our best recruits ever, MAL is ranked 35-40 nationally, Sidibe and Polley are two guys who are on the rise and will end up being 4 star recruits.

Maybe should have been more specific. Not a top 3 class but probably 6-10 like this year. I'd be more than happy to get that year on year out.

Based upon this back and forth I've decided the following:

A "lights out" class consists of either: 2 consensus 5-star recruits + 1 other top 150 recruit -- or -- 4 (or more) top 50 recruits

Therefore my ruling is that @JonnyRI's initial statement, that a class of Diallo (5-star), MAL (4-star top 50), Sidibe (4-star top 100) and Polley (4-star top 150) isn't quite "lights out" is correct. The court will accept "great," "really great," "excellent" and "one of the best in school history" as applicable descriptors.

Diallo, MAL, Polley and Sidibe would be a great class! It would leave us one scholarship just in case. I'd sign up for that one right now.
