The shots that he didn't block, he changed. His presence in the post after we went man-to-man altered Syracuse's offense.

Yep, he took a bad shot inside the last minute and he missed FTs. But we don't win without him.

Facey as well. Purvis, Adams and Vitale all felt comfortable being in the faces of the Orange on the perimeter because they had confidence that they had help behind them.

Syracuse is obviously not -- at least at the moment -- a good defensive team, but the last 8 minutes we played of hard man was really really reminiscent of what UConn basketball is.

Brimah was all over the place on D. Really was a difference maker last night.

Syracuse kept challenging Amida, and Amida kept blocking and altering their shots. He was terrific last night, and we don't win without him.

For all the complaining we seem to do about AB (including myself), we are going to miss him next year .

Cuse seemed wary to even think about challenging Brimah in the 1st half as they jacked up outside jumpers all half. When they did make an effort to take it in the paint they found tough sledding with our length.

We played a lot of zone in the beginning of the game almost baiting them into that jump shot game. I think we will see a lot of zone mixed in going forward as KO will use this as a way to keep our thin roster out of early foul trouble.

When we went man in the 2nd half our guards and wings were aggressive, as they should be, with Brimah lurking behind them. AB was flat out fantastic down the stretch...on D at least.

Side note: What happened to his FT stroke? He used to be very reliable and now all of a sudden he developed a hitch and is aiming his shot.

The Rob Dauster NBC article has a funny quote from a Syracuse fan (from Connecticut) stating that he thought WE would be a little blip on their NCAA resume. Who are kidding? That Syracuse team sucks. And that is with me liking Lydon and White. But ... seriously ... if we play D and Facey/Brimah learn to play together, UConn is going to develop into a far more formidable out. (and we still need to make shots - FTs and 3s)
