Normally, players with Boatright's contract arrangement get a partial guarantee upfront with additional increments being paid as the player passes certain milestones. The second year is often guaranteed similarly.
Cory Jefferson, for example, is scheduled to be paid $75,000 on July 15, then in rising increments through the opening of training camp, when he would be fully guaranteed.
Boatright, although undersized, is a solid three point shooter. A starter on UConn's 2014 NCAA championship team, he averaged 17.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists this past season. Boatright also shot 41.1 percent from three-point range on over six attempts per game. He went undrafted and was signed to the summer league team the day after the Draft. Of the summer league players, he and Cliff Alexander are given the best chance of making the final roster.
