2011 as well. According to Greenberg and Bilas on ESPN, out facilities are better than Kentucky's. Calipari wanted theirs upgraded.
Yeah, they're just making assumptions.

I love how Kentucky fans take so much pride in how much money UK has as if it’s their own. Meanwhile the state of Kentucky has a median income of $59K (CT is 49% higher at $88.4K). Kentucky is a 3rd world country compared to New England and they pretend they know about CT, UConn, its facilities (which put UK’s to shame btw), and its fans. Comical. Just enjoy being poor little country bumpkins and rooting on your academic shitstain of a school that is the poster boy for cheating in college basketball.

I think it's funny how much money Calipari fleeced out of Uk for one title.

No doubt that the majority comes from boosters. There is just this tinge of arrogance that kentucky is somehow the playground of the rich and famous. Either way, there are more wealthy people in CT than in 80% of the country and now that UConn bball is in that rarified air, I don't think more boosters signing on here is unfathomable
Just curious if anyone knows....who are the wealthiest Uconn alums/boosters? I'm assuming most of the big CT money is finance....but are they tied to Uconn? We know Arkanasas has the chicken guy

Arkansas also has some regional chain retail/grocery store family that has a few dollars.

And Jerry Jones might have a couple of spare dollars and an interest in athletics.

We can laugh at their fanbase's posts, but I dont like our comments about how the citizens look, or how poor they are, or that they're all backwoods moonshiners or whatever. That's garbage.
It's booster/state uni $$$, not ours, or theirs. Let's keep this anxiety focused where it should be, on the programs.... despite what some on their board say.

I was friends in high school with Joe Burton, whose brother Mike played at UConn. Joe played at Cuse. Their Dad donated the Burton family football complex. He's the only one I know. In high school, we'd go to his house on weekends. First time there I thought their pool house was their neighbors actual house. Ha (you may remember the story that he wanted his $$$ back after the school hired coach P)

The only time I’ve ever been to Kentucky, me and a few college classmates ( mostly girls) went to a country western bar we were suggested on the plain ride over. We sat down, the waitress heard our accents and asked where we were from. A few minutes later we were escorted out the door and called « freaks from the east ». I wouldn’t be tempted to take a job there.

Why would Hurley leave Connecticut, where he could install himself as god emperor for all eternity, to leave for Kentucky where they’d run him out of town on a rail if he didn’t win a title within 3 seasons
That's the thing. Calipari's performance declined, but his 14 years there are really good. Even his last 3, he was a 2, 3, and 6 seed. A title, 4 final fours, 7 elite 8s. Literally 50% of Cal's seasons ended in the Elite 8 or later. If that doesn't buy you enough good will to survive a some upsets, I don't know what to say. We aren't talking about anything near late Boeheim.

He should have gone a little farther at least one of those years. But even K and Calhoun were upset sometimes—and sometimes in close proximity, years-wise. Why would anyone want to coach somewhere with that delusion?

He sees how Jimmy and Geno are treated every day.

I would be more concerned about the Nets. For someone like Hurley who talks about Jersey going to Kentucky is another country. He will work an extra million or 2 for his current contract and call it a day. If the Nets offer 8-10 million a year. That’s a concern.

according to BET MGm The average salary for an NBA head coach is approximately $3.5 million. that's shocking to me. I thought they all made at least $10 mill/year.

They're from Kentucky. Self-awareness isn't their thing.
There's an old adage about those who say, "I don't know who I am" know darn well who they are and don't like it. Same thing, they are self-aware, they just chose to ignore it.

Agreed, it's gross. Some of the nicest people you'll ever meet live down there and yes some of those awesome people don't have much money at all but their lives are rich and they'll give others the shirt off their back.

I like how he days we're "the luckiest program that ever existed". I will admit we were lucky with our third and fourth titles, we had to beat Kentucky in the final four in both of those runs. It's not like a current power school was in our way.
Even the third - that team was 14-0 in tournaments, with 11 of the opponents in the top 25. Yeah, the Big East ate our lunch a bit in the regular season, so you could consider it to be a bit lucky that we put it together in March. Having a FF with Butler and VCU in it was a bit lucky too. But Kentucky is the one fanbase that can’t complain about that. They were there too.

The fourth - yeah. We were a 7 seed and won that one a bit out of nowhere. And being able to play in msg was a break. But Florida could have put an end to the lucky run and we outscored them by 25 after the slow start.

Easy to say we were lucky in hindsight, but going through it, facing Kawhi, or an Arizona team that rolled Duke, or a Cincinnati team that knew us, or a Kentucky team we thumped the first time, or Martelli, Wright, Izzo, Hoiberg or Donovan, or another Kentucky team on its own magic carpet ride, I never was like “wow! What a break!” (Even Butler in the finals had been there the year before, but granted I’d have preferred an 8 seed over many alternatives).

It is crazy reading some of their most recent posts. The same people who think all anyone should care about is money and can't understand why he wouldn't want to go there are the same people posting horrible things that would clearly deter anyone from going there. They don't understand that they are the reason he wouldn't want to go.

Self-awareness usually doesn't align with those types of personalities.

They have the answer and it's obvious.

Sorry to rant, but its so glaringly obvious who the people are on this board that have never lived outside the Northeast or CT. There are wonderful, amazing, friendly, nice people everywhere in this country. If a person judges and categorizes people by how their maniacal fan bases are, I encourage looking in the mirror and thinking about how others may perceive us.

Storrs is clearly the basketball capital of the world, but be gracious kings and queens, because the Game of Thrones is real.

Jeezus.

Justified was an all-time great series set in Harlan, Kentucky....so KY has that going for it.

Although it WAS filmed CA, guess they couldn't convice Timothy Olyphant to spend time in KY either ;)
