It is painfully obvious the NCAA is corrupt beyond even the US gov which I think is saying something. Nobody follows the rules except for the "Bad" teams... Which Uconn is one of. So should uconn just say f it and pay a fall guy to make some payments get some 3-4 star recruits hopefully not get caught in 10 years and then get a slap on the wrist. From there blame the fall guy " who was already payed well" But hopefully by then we are in a P5 conference with a solid past 10 years of winning and football excellence. IT worked with Okie St :)

No. Only the truly Big Boys like UNC get no penalty from cheating. UConn can expect an SMU like death penalty if it adopted such measures. UConn should save that money and hire a top flight coach.

Pay players. Hire escorts for recruits. Fake classes. Unearned grades. Lowering admission standards.

We're almost playing with one hand tied behind our back by not doing these things.

UConn is trying to hook up High School Seniors with the Spirit Boys and Chubby Chicks who cheer. UConn will never get into the P5 without VIP hos.

This is why I think you're going to see a disassociation from the NCAA. The NCAA is becoming gun shy on sanctioning "the big programs" see UNC and Miami. Yet, they went back and punished us retroactively for the APR after already punishing us. The gall of UConn to go out and win an NCAA title while on probation. They also hit USC football pretty hard. Their enforcement really does look arbitrary.

We could root for Miami!

Texas A&M (Johnny Immaturity gets a 1 half suspension verse a comparable creampuff) and Auburn (zero sanction on the way to a NC) are better examples of gun shy sanctions than UNC and a has been/may never be again program like Miami.

This is a subject that I've actually toyed around with writing about. I'm glad somebody else brought up this way. I'll simply say, that hopefully, for those that might not previously have the foggiest idea how people that are emotionally invested in the success of a college football program, as well as people that actually have educational position jobs in institutions of higher learning, can resort to activities that are considered to be ethical and moral standards considered 'low',(i.e. North Carolina university faculty falsifiying entire classes/grades, Miami boosters providing player benefits - hell the origin of the 'death penalty' - SMU boosters giving players cars and cash).........I'm not condoning such behavior in any way......but hopefully those that are invested somehow in this program that may not have had any clue how something like that could happen - witness the emotional despondency of the boneyard in fall 2013.

I am in no way condoning such behavior, before some wingnut lets loose and misinterprets, a nationally relevant contender in college football can be built without shenanigans. It's just a heck of a lot harder, than it is to cheat.

Call me crazy, but I'd rather be clean and go to a postseason mid level post Christmas bowl game every year (or better) than have the stink of controversy playing for a National Championship.

Let me put it this way, What good is a vacated title and punishing current players who were not involved in the years being investigated? The former allows you to play in the post season every year and maybe elevate to a higher level every now and again.

Yes but the ride to that vacated title would be fun!!! I would rather "Cheat" and be playing Georgia in a top 5 matchup at metlife stadium opening weekend and "worry" that maybe we would get some sanctions. Which if you have noticed besides SMU really does nothing. Even Penn St still has a pretty viable football team. LOL more so then us. You can always clean up messes..plus if you get a good enough name out there you can recover fast after your mess. I am pretty sure Okie st will not fall of the map and they gained a LOT....

even if Uconn did or didn't decide to pay players, nobody would ever know until the NCAA decides to impose sanctions.

We live this in hoops. I'm 100% sure that we cheated a significant amount in the last 25 years. Big Deal. So has everyone else.

Everyone else in the world of college hoops thinks we cheat. Why? 3 National Championships.

Give me 3 National Championships in football and I'll deal with Auburn fans calling us out.

Really unshocked at the SI article I read today. There better be something good in this multi part exposé. You know all the bug programs down that way are doing this thing to varying degrees at all times.

Totally agree. Anyone who thinks this is unique to OK State is just incredibly naeve.

But did you hear? Sometimes recruits had sex on their visits, and the whole idea was to give them the idea that they might have lots of sex if they accepted a scholarship to play football at a school like Oklahoma State! How dare they set all these lofty expectations!

I mean this is almost as bad as covering up for a pedophile.

Not shocked, shocked it is being exposed. With the stuff that has come out about USC, and Auburn in the last few years, it's pretty obvious there is some BIG cheating going on. What I have a problem with is the NCAA arbitrary process on who gets sanctioned.

This is not the first time that the escort gimmick has been alleged. Most of the time it happens under the sheets while the head coach (in this case, Les Miles) turns the blind eye and maintains plausible deniability.

The head coaches daughter should be required to lead such squad. To think, your paying for your kid to go to school, and she allows herself to be used like that. The thought of that is something I will admit being naive to.

Actually, down south, that could make Daddy a proud alum.

might as well pay all the CFB kids, reduce the scholarships for everyone, make it more like the NFL. Also give the kids incentives $$$ for their academic performance, plus for getting their degrees. I think the other sports are irrelevant since CFB realignment has ruined lots of rivalries which makes college sports great IMO. I know we had a thread about CFB players in the past, but hey the writing is on the wall.
