After the game, Diana was by her bench talkin to Maria Conlon and Ashley battle. As she was going back to the locker room, she banged her heart and pointed to the fans.

these Olympics are like watching an old-timers UConn game, except the players are hardly old-timers. Amazing how quickly Geno can get them to play team ball again.

Rebecca Lobo tells the story during her freshman year speaking to a teammate she was making fun of some fans close by an CD was behind her and read her the riot act that you better treat the fans like gold they're the reason UCONN does what it does! And Rebecca said the fans treat her as royalty even today and it's like she has 25,000+ family members! In all her travels to different colleges no where else is the fan adulation so strong as with UCONN and their fans!

Good point, Bags. I watched the game live-streamed on Facebook (today's game should be there also) and was amazed at the level of defense the US team was able to generate with relatively little practice time. Maybe D has an explanation for it when she says, "When Coach Auriemma says something, when he is in the gym, you want to do everything right for him." Check out this quotation and others at Taurasi still has a bond with UConn women's basketball coach Auriemma. The Husky great is, like Sue, Maya, et al, a walking advertisement for why no one, given the chance, should fail to come to UConn.
