This is when I always like to mention that the 3 Ray Allen teams went an insane 49-5 over 3 Big East regular seasons. So we’d have to go 31-3 over our next 34 conference games just to tie them . They also had a 17-1 year and realistically would have gone 19-1 if they had 2 more conference games. They were awesome. What's equally as impressive is 18-2 in BE play. Will that ever be matched again?
This felt like the year to do it with so many coaches still relatively new to their programs and in the beginning stages of instilling a culture.
With the two schools tied for second place both in the top tenLargest margin for a BE Conference winner -- four games.
The three year Ray Allen run of 49-5 in league play will probably never be matched. But this sure feels good. This was a vintage UConn team, like that stretch in the 90s where we'd regularly go 16-2 in the Big East and be top 5 wire to wire.
I don't think anyone genuinely believed that after the KO disaster that we'd get back to this level.
We lost a guy that made 50 threes at 45% clip and he was the 4th most important guy we lost. We only returned 43% of our minutes.I have to keep reminding myself how many significant pieces were lost from last year’s squad. Sanogo, Hawkins, Jackson, Joey C, and Alleyne all gone and they go 28-3….
Which is exactly why Dan Hurley absolutely deserved to be Big East coach of the year.I have to keep reminding myself how many significant pieces were lost from last year’s squad. Sanogo, Hawkins, Jackson, Joey C, and Alleyne all gone and they go 28-3….
Let's hope this UConn team finishes like the 1999 team and not like the mid 1990s teamsThis was a vintage UConn team, like that stretch in the 90s where we'd regularly go 16-2 in the Big East and be top 5 wire to wire.
