Lubin a load to handle

Buford power forward Rakim Lubin transferred into the Georgia school from Gadsden City, Alabama earlier this year and coach Alan Whitehart sure is glad to have him. Just about every offensive set the Wolves run seems to end up in the hands of the 6'6, 250-pound prospect. After a slow start, Lubin hit his stride in the second quarter and played a huge role in Buford's 77-70 win over a talented Peachtree Ridge team. Lubin finished the night with 24 points, many of which came from the free throw line, and 13 rebounds.

Lubin took an official visit to Connecticut back in September and committed to the school while on campus. However, he did not sign a letter of intent to play for Kevin Ollie during the early signing period. He remains committed, but this will be one to watch as the late signing period comes around.

Also, I got some stats on Prince Ali's first game. He played a inferior team but in 15 minutes he had 21 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals.

I'm not sure if there's a website with his game by game stats (doesn't look like his coach puts them on maxpreps) so I'll get his stats from his brother. He has a huge game this Friday against the person that many people believe is better than him in Florida, Antonio Blakenley. So if you have a twitter show him some love and wish him luck on Friday. It's his chance to shine!

the debate about Lubins height will rage on now. Certainly doesn't have long arms. But he and Brimah should complement each other nicely

ESPN article about the tournament Hamilton is in. This is what they said about him:
Best Player
Daniel Hamilton (Bellflower, Calif./St. John Bosco)
2014, WF, 6-foot-7, 180 pounds
Status:
Committed to UConn
After an inconsistent summer, Hamilton showed his whole arsenal at this event. The multiskilled wing drained shots at all three levels and was especially good in the midrange area. He also added a few nifty assists.

On Lubin:

1) UConn signee Rakim Lubin has a world of potential.

Much has been made in the recruiting world about 6-foot-7 power forward Rakim Lubin of Buford High. We talked about the four-star prospect in an evaluation of his practice in late-October. Lubin showed here in a matchup with Jacksonville signee Amir Warlock that he is capable of emerging into a player capable of making the Huskies better with his presence. Though he still isn’t as smooth offensively as some of the other posts in the class nationally, Lubin showed flashes of what could be in Storrs hitting a soft eight foot jumper off of a post spin move. On another possession, Rubin literally cleared space between himself and Warlock in the post with his shoulders finishing the basket with the future Dolphin draped all over him.

He does look about 2 inches shorter than Warnock (the player who blue who he covers and is covered by in the video who is committed to Jacksonville U.). Warnock is listed at 6'9", so 6'7" is probably close to correct for Rock. Decent energy but doesn't beat other players up and down the floor. Plays below the rim and tends to force the action inside on offense. FTs seemed to be about 50%. He does use his body well in positioning and his hands seemedgood (not great but not bad). Doesn't try for shot blocks on defense. He did seem to fatigue over time and not run as hard.

He did throw an outstanding outlet pass to 3/4 court at about the 3:30 mark in the 3rd. He seems comfortable passing the ball and usually makes good decisions. His team didn't utilize him much for ball screens but he has the body to be great for screens.
