We have been through the numbers before. It was 16 commits this year plus defections. We lost Nebrich and Tevrin Brandon. So that leaves 2 spots.

    With Holines it's 16 yes?

We are done recruiting before Labor Day??

Unfortunate wording of your title. You mean "2 spots open??", not two commits [have] left.

holines makes #15 for the 2013 class. we have like 15 sr's this year. even
we have like 7 or more rs jrs. some of those won't be back. we had 2 kid leave. i'm thinking a class of 20-25. so for the chart i've been trying to learn how to do a good way i'm predicting a 25 man class. my thinking a handful of spots from rs jr's not coming back and a few more transfers that don't get time. we also don't have a full 85 so there a 2 or 3 slots also.

No I mean two commits left for this season. It's semantics. We have 18 the best as I can see.

We will definitely have close to 25. Any where between 22-25. Happens every year. Can't bank on how many you are going to need just based upon how many seniors are graduating. You have redshirt juniors who won't want to come back, suspensions and or players who get told they're not welcoming back (kicked off), transfers for more playing time, transfers to go closer to home, leaving early for pro ball, players quiting football due to injury or for whatever reasons... Just look at the names in the past of the scholarships we didn't expect to have to fill for the year ahead.......Nebrich, Brandon, Junior, Shoemate, Opoku, Frey, Lang, Portee, McKee, Difton, Kinnard, Edwards, Endres, Kuraczea, Sheppard, Parker, Todman............That's probably not even all of them and thats just the last 3 years. Gotta always have attrition in your mind while recruiting....I can think of at least 2 guys of the top of my head the have eligibility left that have been surpassed by younger guys on our LB 2 deep that may consider exile.

Dam some of those players make you wonder what could've been. especially this year and on the OL...BUT can and should only focus on who's here! Less than 8 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It couldn't be here soon enough! Let's Go Huskies!

Every year we bring in 20 to 25 recruits, that won't change this year.

yup. i remember RE had 1 big year like PP had last year when he brought in almost 30 new faces. our best recruit ever to date was that lb from fuma who never saw the field and left if i remember correctly. i think we brought in like 20 2* kids that year lol. times have changed.

i think hopkins is a ot. we have a bunch of ol offers still out. i think center is the most dire need right now. i have seen thoughts that montgomery may be a dt/ot switch in college. also the great dane will switch ball sides next year unless he kills it this year on d it seems.

Coach P said today that he is proud of his 16 seniors. With only two kids leaving we can take 18 total. No more. So this stuff about taking 20 or 25 is wrong. We have tops 4 more recruits by Feb. 2 RB and and OL.

You seriously don't think there will be any kids who transfer or redshirt juniors who won't come back?

Not to mention, Noel Thomas is enrolling early, so that opens up another spot.

    11 rs sr's
    9 sr's
    9 rs jr's

i think we can find 20 or so recruits and be safe. im sure 5 to 10 of those are walk on's but the numbers are still there. mcneal also didn't come so that's a spot i think along with the 2 transfers. then next year transfers and academics will open a few spots most likely.

Rich, sometimes there are commits that don't qualify, add in attrition by transfer and the occasional rs jr that jumps into the NFL draft, although I don't believe we have one on this team. So as you can see it's very easy to hit 25, but my initial guess was 20 to 25, thats's a fair assesment.

Yes but we cannot commit kids today based on stuff that may happen in the future. The number today looks like 18 with more on the radar if we have defections sure.

Nobody is truly committed on either end until they sign in February. That's why they are called verbals. Both sides can still recant.

We take a RB or 2 until we hear news of defections. I doubt P takes the route of pulling an offer.
