Maya Dodson finally back for Stanford, has missed 9 games. Starting tonight, replacing Alyssa Jerome who just doesn't provide much.

edit--Welcome back, your job tonight is trying to stop Anigwe. Good luck with that.

Gonzaga is in a dog fight w/ Pacific tonight. Was up 4 at halftime, now up only 1 in Q3.

Seems like Cal is clearly outplaying Stanford, yet only up 2 after Q1 22-20. Shaping up to be an entertaining game. Almost 2 on 2 so far. Anigwe and Kiana Smith have scored almost all of Cal's points, and Alanna Smith and Carrington doing most of the damage for Stanford.

Kiana Williams for Stanford has some serious sleight of hand. I don't think I've seen anyone else better at faking out and freezing defenders. She faked a hand off near the top of the key, somehow kept her dribble alive, totally fooled 2 defenders and then dribbled in for an uncontested layup. I've seen her do some other nasty fake outs in other games.

This is a fun game. Cal up 30-27. Anigwe has a double double midway thru Q2. Not bad.

Battle of the Bay is tied at 38 at halftime. 15 for Carrington, 10 for Smith for Stanford. For Cal Caldwell has 11 (all in Q2) and Anigwe and Smith both have 10. Cal is hitting 3's and Stanford is getting layups.

Q3 has been all over the place. Stanford up 5. Cal up 2. Stanford up 3. Cal up 2. Refs have gotten whistle happy all of a sudden.

edited--tied at 61 after 3. Cal missed a buzzer beater 3 by a fraction of a second.

Geez 19 points 17 boards for Anigwe w/ 1 quarter left to play.

Cal is 9-22 behind the arc, Stanford is 4-15. That seems backwards.

6 minutes left...LSU has mustered only 23 points against Mississippi State. That's got to be nearing a school record for futility in a game for that proud program.

68-35 was the final. The 35 was the least MSU has ever allowed in an SEC game.

I liked this opening to the local writeup...

"One minute and 21 seconds into Mississippi State’s game against LSU in Baton Rouge on Thursday night, sophomore guard Andra Espinoza-Hunter had more points than the home team would score in the entire first quarter."

Jaelyn Brown for Cal had hit 6 3's prior to today. She is 4-5 tonight. You can't really game plan for something like that. Tied again at 69 midway thru Q4.

Stanford is in trouble. They have gone ice cold. 5-21 behind the arc. Cal is 12-29, and when they don't hit a shot Anigwe just cleans it up. 11 O boards, 23 rebounds total. 24 points, has an and-1 shooting the FT after a timeout. Cal up 76-71 w/ 2:13 left. Stanford absolutely has to hit some shots.

huh, I guess she already hit the FT that made it a 5 point lead

Stanford can't hit anything. Including FTs. Had 4 on that possession but only hit 2 of them. 76-73 1:18 left.

Not over yet. Cal hit 1-2 FTs, Stanford got an and-1 by Carrington, then forced a tie up on the other end and has possession. Down 1 43 seconds left. They just said they are 3-13 shooting this quarter. 5-23 behind the arc for the game. If they somehow pull this one out...

Smith in the post w/ a bucket (got fouled by Anigwe but no call), Furd up 1 30 seconds left.

Asha Thomas w/ her first points of the game on a pair of FTs, Cal up 1 w/ 9.5 sec left.

Wow, Stanford looked like they were hanging by a string down 5 but kept clawing. Went on a 7-1 run to take a lead.

Anigwe just fouled out on a drive by Carrington. 7.2 left. She's only 6-10 from the FT line tonight.

25 points and 24 rebounds for Anigwe.

Drilled them both. TO Cal so they will get the ball at midcourt.

Wow, Thomas w/ a scoop as the clock expires. Only scored 4 all game but they were Cal's last 4.

81-80 Cal

Didn't like Stanford's D on the final possession. Down by 1, you can't give up a drive and layup. Make 'em beat you from outside.

Absolutely humongous win for Cal. Their best win before this was over BYU.

Still plenty of games left, but Stanford is behind the 8 ball in the league race now. They have Oregon coming to Palo Alto next week but they'll need some help. 2 games behind in the loss column.

I just watched the LSU game this morning (could not leave the UCONN LOU game) and I must say that was a rough game. I realize the score was lopsided but the physical play reminded me of a heavyweight champion fight, lots of knowdowns.

OMG!! BC hits a runner with 0.3 seconds left.

Tough loss for Duke.

That was a soul-crushing loss. If there were ever a regular season game that had tears in the locker room.... that might have been it. This team has fight in it, so I know they wont be giving up. Time for some Pitt

Attendance at last night's Clemson game was 2,791. Might not seem like much... but probably the largest crowd in quite a few years. The team doesnt have much time to regroup.... another home game tomorrow vs Louisville

For reference, 2 weeks ago when they hosted Georgia Tech, the attendance was 675.
