Weekly Recruiting Update, 1/20
Class of 2014:
Melvin Swift (PF): He said UConn and UMASS are recruiting him the hardest. Per Jeff Borzello. I don’t believe that UConn is even recruiting him. He’s just mentioning UConn to drum up interest.
Daniel Hamilton (SG): He arrived at halftime of the UConn vs. Louiville game. Per himself. I talked with him after the game and he said he absolutely loved how Gampel was packed and he said he loves it in Storrs.
Lyrik Shreiner (PG): He is officially visiting Louisville at the end of this month. UConn, Kansas, and Memphis are also on him hard. Per Rivals.
Class of 2015:
Justin Simon (PG): Coach Moore was in to watch him play this past week. Per Josh Gershon. UConn, Kansas, Louisville, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and UCLA are recruiting him the hardest. Per Jack Legwin. He is planning on cutting his list to about ten in February. Per Scout. He currently doesn’t have an offer from UConn.
Arkel Ager (SG): Coach Hobbs was in to watch him this past week. Per his AAU team. He was also in attendance at the UConn vs. Louisville game. Per himself. I talked with him after the game and he said that he had a great time and he really enjoyed himself.
Josh Sharma (C): Coach Ollie and Coach Miller watched him play on Sunday at the HoopHall Classic. Per Terrence Payne.
Jalen Adams (PG): Coach Ollie and Coach Miller also watched him play on Sunday. Per Adam Finkelstein. After the game he said UConn and Minnesota are recruiting him the hardest. Per Jeff Borzello. He is a top priority for the staff.
Jon Jean (PG): UConn, Illinois, Nebraska, Clemson, and Alabama are all showing interest in him. Someone from the staff was in to watch him recently. Per Jack Legwin.
Will Jackson (PG): He had this to say about UConn, “I went to First Night at UConn. I have a great relationship with Coach (Kevin) Ollie and Coach (Ricky) Moore was recently down to watch us play. My mom likes Coach Ollie and that’s important. Coaches need to have a good relationship with both of my parents.” Per Rivals.
Thomas Bryant (PF): He listed UConn, West Virginia, Syracuse, Kentucky, St. John’s, Seton Hall, and Rutgers are all showing various levels of interest.
Cheick Diallo (PF): The schools recruiting him are UConn, Kansas, St. John’s, Arizona, Iowa State, Kentucky, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Seton Hall, Syracuse, Rutgers, Washington, and West Virginia. Per Rivals.
Class of 2016:
Tyus Battle (SG): He is doing to definitely visit UConn and Villanova before spring. Per Adam Zagoria.
Vance Jackson (SF): UConn, Arizona, and UCLA are recruiting him the hardest. Per Rivals. He came to the UConn game with Daniel Hamilton. Per himself. He said that he had an excellent time even though UConn lost. He also said the environment in Gampel was the best part to him.
