The UCONN football program announced over the summer that they would no longer travel away from campus the night before a home game, in order to create a greater sense of unity among the school and its’ students.

Thursday, UCONN will hold the first on-campus pep-rally on Fairfield Way at 6:30PM, a new tradition that will take place the night before every home game, per a spokesman for the program.

With freshman moving in today and the rest of the students expected back by the end of the weekend, this event will be the first on-campus gathering of the student body of the new academic year.

The team will walk together, as one, from the football facility, to Fairfield Way, as they stay at the Nathan Hale Inn, on campus. The band will be in attendance, as well as the cheerleaders.

Coaches and players will take to the stage and speak to students and fans of the program to give a pep talk to a fan base that is looking for nothing but success.

For those that were in South Bend for the game at Notre Dame, the event will be very similar. You will hear the fight song, see the cheerleaders perform and receive a pre-game speech from Bob Diaco and some of the players. The event will get the juices flowing for an already much anticipated new era of UCONN football.

The staff is looking for a way to connect to the fans of the program and this is just another in a long list of traditions that will be announced as the season quickly approaches next Friday.
