SF Vance Jackson Gets a UConn Offer

If you haven’t heard yet, UConn offered Class of 2016 small forward Vance Jackson. He broke the news himself by tweeting it, saying “Got offered by UConn #Blessed #hardworkpaysoff#keepgrindin.” Vance is 6’7″, 195 lbs and goes to La Salle High School in California. It’s also worth noting that he is a very smart student.
Vance Jackson is a believed Top 20 player in his class. When recruiting services start ranking the class of 2016, look for his name. For his age he has an advanced skill set. He can handle the ball very well which enables him to be able to work his way to the basket. Once he gets there he can finish but against taller and stronger completion he struggles. His strength is his weakest part of his game. Once he adds muscle he will finish more consistently in the lane. His shot is smooth. He’s a gifted scorer right now and that doesn’t look like it will end any time soon.
As for recruiting, he’s a long ways away from making a decision like most players in his class. In an interview a month ago, after dropping 30 points in a game, he said that he was receiving interest from UConn, UCLA, Arizona and all of the local schools, but he told a Rivals reporter that UConn is his leader right now. In an interview last summer, Jackson was asked which are the five best college basketball programs and he said UConn was one. Since then he has received offers from Washington, Arizona and now UConn. I think it’s safe to say that he will get dozens of more offers and we will be hearing more about him and UConn in the future.
