Possible Package Deal For UConn In 2015
|“I haven’t really gotten a chance to talk to him anytime soon. I do have interest in playing with him. I believe he is a really good unselfish point guard. He is also an unbelievable passer and that looks great to me,” the he is UConn commit Will Jackson. The high praise is coming from his AAU teammate Noah Dickerson.
Noah Dickerson is teammates with Jackson on the Georgia Stars. Dickerson is exactly what many people believe UConn needs, a big and strong player for down low. Standing at 6’8″ 255lbs and being extremely skilled Noah could come in and play immediately in Storrs. “I have a really nice mid range jump shot. When I’m on the post I love to bully my opponent and out muscle them. I also have a very quick feet and a very quick baseline spin,” is how he describes himself on the court.
UConn first offered Noah in June of last year. Throughout that time UConn’s pitch to him has changed. Now it’s changed to talk of a package deal. “[His relationship with the staff is] Pretty good. They’re all really great guys. They recently got a commit from my AAU teammate so we talk a lot about that,” he admitted.
UConn is one of the many elite colleges after him. They join Georgetown, Ohio State, Duke (no offer), Alabama, Xavier, Virginia, Florida and many more. According to Noah he’s already taken visit to Ohio State, Xavier, Georgetown, Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Alabama and is planning on taking visits to Virginia, Florida, Duke, Ohio State, and Georgetown as of now.
The big man knows what he’s looking for in a school. He wants a school, “That has a balance of a great basketball program and a great education. Also, a place that I know that will develop me like I should be and also a place where they run their offense through the post,” he explained. He stated the same thing about how he wants his colleges coach to run their offensive system, “[I want] A coach that plays the game through the post. He runs everything inside and out.”
As for UConn individually, “Coach Kevin Ollie is a great coach,” Dickerson explained. “He has a history of working very well with post players and I feel that he can help me develop.” The current coaching staff hasn’t been completely together for a while. However, they have shown the ability to develop bigs as Noah pointed out. Nobody expected Amida Brimah to come in and contribute the way he has so far this year. He’s shown a lot of improvement from the beginning of the year to now.
Noah Dickerson is a recruit to watch for UConn in the class of 2015. He fits a big need for the team which means he could become a huge target. The staff seems to have some catching up to do in his recruitment now but they, with the possible help of Will Jackson, could be right in the thick of things if they prioritize him now and through the summer.
