Justin Simon Gives an Update
|Simon is one of the biggest risers in the class of 2015 this high school season. He has been constantly putting up double-doubles and colleges have noticed. Lately he’s had multiple assistants and head coaches in the stands for him every game and UConn coach Ricky Moore has been there.
Some of the other schools after him are Arizona, San Diego State, Kansas, UCLA, Oregon, Colorado and many others. He’s planning on cutting his list at some point this spring and he doesn’t currently have an offer from UConn but that could change at any point. He’s been receiving new offers very often and UConn could offer soon depending on what the staff thinks of how he could fit into UConn’s system.
He has one official right now to Arizona but none of his other four officials are set up. As for who may get those visits Simon explained, “I’m not sure yet but my parents and I will find out after season.”
Justin is primarily being recruited by coach Moore right now and he said that he and Moore have a great relationship. Also, he explained what he likes about UConn, “[I like] the style of play and their experience with guards.”
Simon would be a very versatile player in UConn’s system. Being 6’5″ and 180lbs. will allow him to play multiple positions. He could play point guard for stretches allowing him to showcase his leadership and passing abilities but he can also showcase his driving and shooting skills by playing shooting guard for periods as well. He describes himself as a, “Pass first guard that likes to create for teammates and defend at a high level. I’m very long and versatile. I love to get out and run and play above the rim. I also can shoot mid range shots and will hit the three.”
As for what will be factors in his commitment Justin Simon has it all figured out. “I want a good relationship with the head coach, good skill development, a system that plays multiple guards, a great atmosphere and supportive fan base, and a school with a national schedule,” he listed. More specifically this is what he wants in his future college coach, “A coach that’s going to bring the best out of me and encouragement is big too. Most importantly I would like to have fun playing. Also, I want a coach that’s had experience playing and coaching.”
