It was a quick turnaround from Thursday night’s heartbreaking loss on senior night and out of the gate, Ryan Boatright was on a mission to prove that the performance two days prior, was an enigma from the team of late. Boatright scored 21 points in the first half to pace the Huskies to a 37-32 halftime lead, but for the first time all season, they were unable to hold a lead at the break, falling to Temple 75-63.

Turnovers, inconsistent offense and no third wheel were the story of the afternoon. UConn committed fourteen turnovers, compared to just four for the Owls. Daniel Hamilton, who was the leading scorer in the loss to Memphis, shot just 1-of-12, including 0-for-4 from three. He is now 2-of-13 beyond the arc in the last two games.

Rodney Purvis recovered from his poor shooting on Thursday to score 18 points, but the Huskies, who with today’s loss also missed out on the 5th and final bye in next week’s AAC Tournament, were not able to build any momentum heading into Hartford.

Outscored 43-26 in the second half, UConn began the frame 0-for-7 from the field over the first eight-plus minutes. Boatright finished with 25 points.

After a much needed break to regroup, UConn will play either Houston or USF in the late game on Thursday at the XL Center.
