Huge Two Weeks for Ollie and Co.
|After a very busy summer out watching and scouting various recruits all over the country Kevin Ollie and his coaching staff will have their chance to make their complete recruiting pitch to various recruits in the coming weeks. After zeroing in on a few targets at each position of need they have to close on a few players to keep UConn’s championship pedigree going. Here’s a look at upcoming key dates for the staff:
September 5th-7th: This upcoming weekend two recruits will be taking their official visits to UConn, SF Chris Clarke and C Djery Baptiste. Clarke’s a high energy player that received tons of praise for his play this summer by many people. Baptiste’s a physical beast down low who’s still learning to play the game but can instantly provide muscle to UConn.
September 10th: This day is SF Derrick Jones’ in-home visit date. Derrick’s an extremely talented and explosive player that’s very versatile. His dad recently said UConn’s recruiting him the hardest and he was watched many times by the staff this summer. He took an unofficial visit to UConn recently and by all accounts it went very good. UConn’s in his final nine with Kentucky, Kansas, Arizona, Auburn, UNC, Louisville, UNLV, and Florida.
September 11th: The day after Derrick Jones’ in-home visit comes C Chance Comanche’s in-home visit. Chance is a talented big that can score down low and also step out and make a free throw line jumper constantly. He took an official visit to Storrs in late June and was very impressed. UConn’s in his final five with Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA, and N.C. State.
September 12th-14th: PF Steven Enoch’s official visit. Enoch’s a late bloomer but is very young for his grade. He’s talented in the post and can make threes at a good percentage. He has been on campus multiple times this summer unofficially and has had great trips each time. He grew up a UConn fan and has seemed like a UConn lean ever since they offered him this past summer.
Within the next two weeks if UConn could receive a commitment from one of the players above any of them would be a great second addition to PG Jalen Adams.
In other recruiting news C Christ Koumadje was scheduled to officially visit last weekend but the visit was cancelled and has been tentatively rescheduled to October I have been told. Also, C Diamond Stone, who has been the staff’s top target this summer, has a top five of UConn, Duke, Wisconsin, Maryland, and Oklahoma State. Visit news for UConn and him could come sometime this month as he is scheduled to commit November 12th. Stone’s supposed package deal partner G Malik Newman is expected to release a cut down list soon as well. However, the package deal has lost traction between the two recently.
