Geno Auriemma Spotted Scouting Recruits

A source has told me that Geno Auriemma was spotted at Capital Prep in Meriden CT earlier this year to watch either Kiah Gillespie, a 6-1 forward from the class of 2015, or Desiree Elmore, a 5-9 guard from the class of 2016. Or possibly both.

Last year USA Today called Gillespie the #2 ranked girl in Connecticut and this year Gillespie was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Connecticut. My sources says, “From her frame alone, Kiah would seem to be the better prospect and, to me, appeared better than Bria Holmes at the same time in her career at Hillhouse. She is a better ball-handler, defender and rebounder if not quite as good a shooter Bria was in high school”. The New London Day reported that Tennessee is one of the schools recruiting her.

Desiree Elmore is another Div I prospect from Capital Prep. Her height is anywhere from 5-9 to 5-11, depending on which site you visit, and she is also getting interest from well-known schools with Georgia Tech, Marquette, St. John’s and Syracuse listed among her suitors. She’s not getting as much press as Gillespie at this point but she will as her name gets out.
