American Conference Football Media Days Monday & Tuesday
|Coaches and players from the 10 American Athletic Conference schools will converge on Newport, R.I. on Monday and Tuesday for league’s Summer Kickoff and Media Day. UConn fans will be able to follow all of the events of the two days on both UConnHuskies.com and TheAmerican.org/Kickoff.
In additonal to head coach Paul Pasqualoni, UConn will be represented by junior quarterback Chandler Whitmer (Newnan, Ga.), junior offensive guard Steve Greene (Edensberg, Pa.) and junior cornerback Byron Jones (New Britain, Conn.).
On Monday, the league hosts its annual golf outing for at Newport National Golf Club for coaches, media, school officials and bowl representatives. Later on the Monday night, The American plays host to the most famous media day event among any league in the country – a traditional New England clambake at Fort Adams State Park.
There will be several updates during Monday on Twitter at @UConnFootball – many of which using the Vine application. In addition, UconnHuskies.com will have a final wrap-up of Monday’s events featuring interviews.
The centerpiece of the conference’s coverage on Tuesday will be a live, three-hour program featuring in-depth analysis and interviews with coaches and players that kicks off with UConn head coach Paul Pasqualoni at 9:30 a.m.
In addition, a live video feed of Commissioner Mike Aresco’s opening remarks and each coach’s question-and-answer session at the podium will be available on ESPN3. The show will be hosted by John Rooke and Pete Brock and will feature one-on-one interviews with each of the league’s 10 head coaches and select players. It will be available on ESPN3 and will feature the results of the conference’s preseason media poll. For complete digital coverage of the event, fans are asked to visit www.TheAmerican.org/Kickoff.
The official Twitter hashtag for event will be #AmericanKickoff. Fans can use that hashtag to submit questions to be asked of head coaches during the live show.
