BREAKING: Huskies Add DB/S Marshé Terry to 2015 Class
|By, Matt Schonvisky
The class of 2015 continues to grow as defensive back Marshé Terry committed to the Huskies this morning.
Terry, who attends Northern Burlington County Regional High School in Columbus, New Jersey, was recruited as a safety and made his decision last night. He slept on it and phoned in his decision to UCONN today.
“I talked to Kevin Murphy and Tyler Davis, who are already in the 2015 class, last night,” Terry said over the phone this morning. “They told me it would really be great to have you as part of the team to play a big part in making us successful. It was nice to get a peer connection from someone that is going through the same process I am.”
Terry, who was on campus two weeks ago for a visit, stands 6’4” 190 and is a long, intelligent athlete, with great upside.
“The way the coaches treated me when I was there went a long way,” Terry said. “The way Coach Diaco is and the other players that committed, I really believe in what they are and what they want to become.”
Education played a large role in the decision for Terry, who also had an offer from Fordham and was receiving interest from Rutgers, Syracuse, Boston College, Army and Navy.
“Academics is the biggest thing for me. My dad has always stressed that since I was young. [UCONN] being a top 20 public school played a big part.”
Marshé’s dad has been there through some tough times, raising him alone, along with his brother and sister.
“My dad has been the one to push me the most through everything we’ve gone through and the tough situations we’ve been in,” Terry said proudly. “Through it all though, he’s made sure to support us and he turned us into the respectable, young adults we are today.”
Terry views himself as an all-around safety, someone who will bring versatility to the Huskies secondary.
“I can really do both [cover and hit],” he said. “I excel naturally at coverage just as far as reading different play schemes, but I can also come up and make big hits when necessary.”
Terry becomes the fifth commit to a class that is growing rapidly.
We will have more on Marshé and will hear from his head coach, Jon Reising, throughout the day.
