But that is a little misleading relative to conferences. In basketball pretty much everyone plays 20 league games which is 2/3 of your schedule. And since leagues are somewhat hierarchical, eg the ACC is better than the A-10, the league record is fairly important, especially for the high mid-majors. Kind of the same thing here but in this case we are in a baseball equivalent of the basketball A-10. In a league where there is at best 1 at-large, it is going to the best team in the league. This is interesting because in hoops, of course, they all swear that conference records and standings are totally irrelevant -- it's about total schedule treating all games equally. Now, baseball doesn't have to award at large bids on the same criteria as hoops, but the less visiability into what the criteria, is, the more room for favoritism.

Another brutal bracket projection. I think I’d prefer the Arkansas projection and hope for some help with regards to Arkansas. Tough task either way.2024 D1Baseball Field of 64 Projections: May 1 • D1Baseball

This team may not be one of the best UConn teams in recent memory, but man are they resilient. Have to love their toughness.
Chart all green. Let’s keep rolling.
Go Huskies!!!

I agree to an extent. Creighton’s struggling and when it truly matters come Selection Monday, anything short of a Creighton sweep at home will be a losing battle. If they can get both NE/Cincy to offset that, then maybe. The Butler series has to be a formality and no baseball game is that. Tough spot to be in. Otherwise, 27 wins and not a whole lot of weight carrying wins to show. I’m just being realistic and trying to temper expectations. An at-large is within distance but I don’t believe it’s nearly a few wins away. If not 8-0 then 7-1 the rest of the way. With the remaining schedule that has to be the goal.We have now won 17 of last 20 games, and chart is all green. The next 5 games are vs teams with good RPI (39,57 and 70). I believe we need to get a minimum of 3 wins to keep our At Large bid alive.
I don’t think many of us would have predicted we would be in this position 20 games ago. Need to give the team and coaching staff a lot of credit. Let’s keep winning.
Go Huskies!!!

I don’t necessarily disagree with your points, and value your analysis. Going 8-0, or 7-1 would be optimal. But if we go 5-3 rest of regular season and end up in BE tournament championship game, that would get us to 34 wins. I believe the Big East has a very good chance of getting two teams in. If that is true, we should be one of those 2 teams.
We still have much work to do. These next 5 games will be very interesting. We have been on a roll, that needs to continue for a few more weeks.
Go Huskies!!!
