Yuting Deng?

I don't know how reliable this source is, but apparently UConn has offered incoming sophomore Yuting Deng (Auburn) out of the transfer portal according to @CWHoopShow on X. I watched a few of her games, and she's definitely a scorer. 6'2, can shoot. Has international experience playing for China. She got thrown into Auburn's lineup halfway into the season, so she only played 12 games, but averaged 12 ppg. Very impressive, especially considering the language barrier.

Not sure what to make of this as she literally has 50 teams "interested" in her based on that X.com post. Unless they are thinking that Ayanna won't be healthy, and/or she would slot in ahead of Ice and Yanna, not sure how that would work. I don't think we need a 6'2" forward, rather someone who can play the center ahead of or behind Jana.

In my perfect world, i'd love to see Serah or some other quality center come so you have her and Jana at the 5, and Ice can back up Sarah at the 4...

I guess it's possible but someone may be confusing interest with a concrete offer. If there's really that much interest from schools then we'll find out soon enough.

Deng is a 6-2 SG not a big. I agree that Williams should be and probably is the priority for the only roster slot available at this time. That's why I question whether there's actually an offer yet for Deng.

I watched her more than once. She would not be an upgrade. She would be a hindrance to the growth Ducharme and Allie. I believe UConn has players as good if not better than she is.
