YTTV losing espn

It's useless to me without ESPN, ABC and the rest. I cancelled and I'm figuring out what I'm really losing. For instance, others in the household mainly watch shows on CBS and that HGTV and Food Channel stuff. I can get 3 months of Paramount+ for free on my AMEX card. HBO Max takes care of the others. I can get that for $75. annually. So I end up saving about grand for the year for the hassle of clicking a couple of more times. I can adapt again.

I’ve been doing fine without Disney so far.

Fubo has just a news and sports package for like $55 a month that is pretty tempting but it doesn't include CBSSN or TNT/TruTV, which is kind of a big deal.

I just found that the standard tier of HBO Max gives you those Turner sports channels. And Amex has pretty good rebates on Fubo and MAX right now.

The other options will be no better. And Disney owns much (almost all) of it. Interestingly enough, Disney+ just raised their prices as of yesterday. If Disney destroys YTTV I’m fairly certain they will charge 100+ a month going forward.

Argggghhhh. I hate to agree with this, but you're spot on. I've been crazy pissed at YTTV for removing the networks, but my anger is probably misdirected. I just hate switching....again....and likely back to Hulu Live, and we HATE the interface there...it's just absolutely terrible. I emailed Hulu over and over asking them to have their engineers look at YTTV's user interface and apparently that meant nothing. Now I have YTTV sans ESPN/ABC and am paying for ESPN Plus but can't record the games (we have a habit of starting hoops games about a half hour late and then skipping commercials to "go live" by halftime or so.) That's the part that sucks the most. Last year, we were forced to make a switch just for the SNY issue, and now this time it's the same game, different name.

You Tube is no victim. They've been raising prices faster than their programming costs have risen. Now that has come back to bite them, they have no room to maneuver. Disney sucks of course but since most of that YT added revenue came from customers willing for live sports, the time is ripe for Disney to come asking for their cut of this cash. Screw YouTube, I'm finding my alternative strategy is going to save me a ton of money over the course of a year.

What’s your alternative? Serious question. Hulu Live is 90 a month - essentially the same as YTTV. Like others have said FUBO is cheaper but you miss out on TNT/CBSSN which is all of our home FB games and about 7 men’s bball games. If you mix and match paramount, peacock, hbo, espn/fox app I think you get it all (UConn stuff) but that’s still around 90 per month unless I’m wrong on my math.

As far as I see it’s all about even. IMO, Disney is simply trying to monopolize it and then they’ll charge whatever they want afterwards.

Nobody else has a DVR and an interface nearly as good.

I’m waiting on YTTV. I think ESPN will be back shortly. I’m not getting Hulu, so it’s either YTTV or Comcast and my wife is telling me she doesn’t want the cable boxes. We moved into a new house and put the tvs on the walls and everything is streamlined and perfect without a cord in sight. So, we went with YTTV.

I’m kind of stuck unless I decide to pay for ESPN/Disney separately, which many people did around here last week in order to watch the Gator/Georgia football game. I was able to pick it up with a Walmart antenna on my outside TV, which bought me a little time.

Fubo is much more expensive than YTTV, at $119 with 4k (elite plan). If 4k is not important to you, then the pro plan is $10 less.

Peacock. I just ended my year contract with them. I’m doing the premium plan at $16.99 a month, but there are two other tiers at $10.99 and $7.99 also available (though I don’t believe the $7.99 includes all live sports).

HBO Max. My 12 month plan is about to end so I’m going monthly. $22.99 for premium (includes 4k), or you can get standard at $18.49 (no 4k) or basic with ads at $10.99.

So the all in range is $127.98 - $158.98 per month. Bonkers.

You know it never occurred to me to set up my newish smart TV with the Comsuck app so that I don't need to keep paying for that stupid box in the living room! Your comment smacked some sense into me, and I can finally start saving a bit. I will say that my Comcast bill today is about 2x as high as my Verizon bill was several years ago, and I hate that I can't get the same high speed cable service with Verizon Fios as what Comsuck wants to charge (they are Comsuck cuz I lost a lot of channels on my programming tier while the prices kept going up).

The ESPN Select package level in the Disney/Hulu bundle is basically garbage with YouTube as my TV provider. Knowing I wouldn't be able to watch F1 this weekend pushed me over the edge and I bit the bullet on ESPN Unlimited. An extra $5/mo for a year then $35.99 after that. That upgrade enabled us to watch the Women's game Tuesday afternoon, so a little silver lining to keep the Warden happy . THEN...Tuesday night I log in to watch the Islanders/Bruins game it was blacked out. 😞I hate them all.

Interesting. We had like 8 Comcast boxes in our old house. We gave up on Comcast when we moved in April. If Comcast is now box- less, I’ll probably go back. Going to look into it right now.

Paramount+ covers CBS network and local. I reattached the HD antenna. We already get the Disney bundle for free through Verizon. Bottom line, all I'm losing is ESPN cable stuff that I almost never watch anyway. My new expense is a year of MAX, costing me a bit more than a month of YTTV.

I was thinking of going a similar route. I could only get the antenna to work on my outdoor TV. Turns out that a metal roof and Hurricane Impact Glass completely destroy the ability to use an old fashioned antenna inside the house.
