So, saw Zach Bryan Saturday night in Birmingham, AL. We had a group from all over the area and some of the wives coordinated the trip as a way of getting everyone together. This was my first "real" concert inside an arena in over a decade. I have definitely migrated to outside amphitheaters or festivals. Thank goodness this was a show where almost everyone stood the whole show. Seats were plenty wide but sitting in a seat at a concert isn't my style. Men my age were certainly not the majority of the crowd. Legacy Arena was packed- about 16k. Interesting building originally built in mid-70's and has gone through some face lifts. Place felt fresh and open. Hint, hint, Hartford. Bryan put on a two hour show with no intermission and then an encore. Everyone of these girls dressed like cowgirls knew every word to every song. It was a sing along more so than a watching and listening show. Bryan puts on a good show. His backstory of starting writing and singing while serving active duty in the Navy is neat. As a veteran who served in the Navy he was definitely being more productive with his off-duty time than I was. He is still only 27 and is playing Brooklyn this week and plays Foxborough over the summer as part of his stadium tour. Band backing him is tight and they know their role. Putting out a 34 song triple album as your major label debut is bold. American Heartbreak won several awards in both country amd rock.
