Each time I've seen him he played with the drummer Rudy Royston, who's incredible. Guitar/bass/drums trio with a lot of Frisell's idiosyncratic looping tricks and left-of-center jazz, however there were no hints of country/folk, something he occasionally throws in. I got there 10 minutes before the show started and even though the show was very well attended, somehow the front of the stage was wide open, so I parked myself front and center and was lucky to be right up front for the entire show.
