Yanna Video

It is not hard to predict that UConn will be outstanding this season.

But beyond the obvious suspects, it is hard to predict what it will look like.

The talent level is incredible, and some sure things of course but a whole lot of question marks as well. New to the program, coming off injury, second year jumps, and so on. Who will emerge?

I am hoping that Ayanna's injury issues are behind her and that she can be a real force especially as a rebounder and defender. We saw glimpses a couple of seasons ago and she was not fully healthy then. A unique player with huge upside.

Like everyone here, I do hope the best for Ayanna. She could have left after Year One and rehab with another program, but she chose to stay. That is why I am rooting for her (like the rest of the Yard family) and wishing all the best and if she is healthy, with her raw power, quickness, untapped skills, and her around the basket game, she is going to be a HUGE problem.

When Ayanna first committed, I thought she was a natural matchup against Ashlyn Watkins. Both superb athletes and rebounders, able to dominate the paint through muscle and physicality. If she is able to make it back into the rotation this season, she may yet be able to play that role, and be needed for precisely that in the end.
