While casting about for anything - yes anything - of the slightest interest I came upon this announcement on the Huskies' Facebook page:
"Providing a safe, engaging and fun environment for all fans is a top priority for UConn Division of Athletics and Spectra Venue Management Services at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field and XL Center. For the 2017-2018 season, new security measures are being implemented to ensure the health and safety of all guests.
Walk-through metal detectors will be installed at both Pratt & Whitney Stadium and XL Center for future UConn Athletics events. Pending the installation, these new security measures could be in place Saturday at UConn's Football game vs. Tulsa.
These new security measures are in addition to the existing bag policy and prohibited items and are consistent with other universities and major sporting teams/venues in an effort to create safe environments.
Fans are encouraged to allow for extra time to enter Pratt & Whitney Stadium and XL Center and to leave non-essential items at home by minimizing the number of personal items they bring and remove any items that may trigger the alarm before walking through the detectors. Guests will need to empty their pockets into a bin but will not need to remove their belts or shoes.
Bags smaller than 12" x 6" x 12" will be permitted inside. Patrons who have bags larger than the permitted size will be asked to return them to their vehicles or discard them. All bags, purses or personal items of any size are subject to search. An exception will be made for medically necessary items and diaper bags with an accompanied child after proper inspection. Over-sized and prohibited items are unable to be stored at either venue.
