Sucks for Xavier, but good new for Wednesday for us. Losing Samson and now Freemantle on the mantle have me feeling better. Hopefully he gets well sooner than later

Xavier also has Long Beach State transfer Lassina Traore (6’10 230 SR, stats from last year: 12p, 10r, 70 FT%, 30 mpg) out w/ a knee injury.

This leaves former Oklahoma/Pitt big John Hugley as their only true center, but his conditioning means he can't play more than 20-25 minutes, but I'm sure 6'8 225 Jerome Hunter will play a lot of five too. Sophomore Dailyn Swain also bulked up to 6'8 220, so he can be a small ball five.

Xavier is now down to nine healthy scholarship players. This list includes Florida State transfer Cam’Ron Fletcher, who is playing sparingly after gearing up from an ACL injury.

A lot of the BE feels snake bitten at this point. Hopkins missing basically entire OOC, Pop, Freemantle. Ceiling at this point is a 4 bid league. Weird year.

This guy can't catch a break.

Damn this is so sad, 3 years in a row. And the key word in that tweet is "indefinitely" which means they don't know when he will be back so it could be while.

FWIW, I feel sick for him that his promising basketball aspirations could get derailed.

Tough spill like Johnson had, but he is their key guy and starting 4 who would have dueled AK Wednesday.

Now Hunter and some Hughly IV to play more minutes, but all signs point to a Huskies victory.

"Lower body injury" is pretty much as vague as you can get. Does anyone know what happened?

Basketball big men have foot problems more frequently than other athletes. Foot problems rarely go away, and often lead to other problems. It is very hard to heel a foot because any rehab training an athlete will do involves using his or her feet.

Freemantle has been one of my favorite non-UConn Big East players since he got to Xavier. He is obviously skilled, and just enough of a punk to make him interesting but not too much of a punk that you hate him. He is the kind of guy that most teams could use, if he could only stay healthy.

Freemantle is the kind of player you want on your team. He's a baller. Don't know what the future holds for him with his injuries. Can definitely make some money playing ball after X if his body can hold up. Best of luck to him and his rehab.

Hunter's given us trouble before.

Hunter is really good but if he’s forced to play the 5 against Reed for extended minutes we are going to crush them on the glass. He doesn’t shoot 3’s either so he won’t really be able to stretch Reed away from the basket like when we would have Karaban play the 5 last year when Clingan was out

Freemantle is an example of NIL being a good thing. His body doesn't seem to want to let him play for long even if his skill and size would've allowed him to make a living playing the game. Hopefully he comes out of Xavier with a degree and a lot more money than most kids graduate with.

Seems to be some noise about Bryce Hopkins shutting it down for the season since he's still not 100%.

Sorry to hear that about Zach. For those who remember this is the kind of promise this kid had when in Feb 2021 he torched us for 30 pts and 15 rebounds in which we still won. He has been injury riddled ever since.
Kid is snake bitten.

I hope not for his sake. A 1 competitor who can do it all.
