I didn't want WVU to leave and they have great fan support, but they haven't been the crutch that helped the BE maintain it's BCS bid.

LOL. It's not just about 4-year computer rankings -- perception effects how the criteria are established in the first place.

They have two of our three BCS bowl wins since the last realignment, and two out of our two BCS bowl wins against opponents that anyone cares about.

Can they be replaced by Boise? In terms of football on field quality, yes. But this is a huge loss to our football conference, any way you look at it.

I agree. College football is all about history and tradition and less about recent performance. Rationally, the New BE is a better football conference based on recent performance, but with a lot less history and tradition.

But isn't AQ status based soley on a 4 year rolling average? What does perception have to do with the AQ bid?

Nothing under today's "rules." But all the rules are are contractual terms set by parties to a 4-year contract. The "rules" can be changed any time the contract comes back up for renewal. And no one really needs the Big East's blessing to change the rules.

So until the change the rules, if they ever do, we are better off with Boise than WVU.

What kind of rule change is going to put another conference above us? Aren't we technically higher than the ACC in the AQ standings? ( simething like that)

You're not suggesting they make the rules where only 5 conferences qualify are you?

With that said if we qualify, we qualify. Should be just fine going forward with Boise on board.

Like I said in another post we will be a stronger conference in 5 years than we are now.

Ok, who's lying here? The fact sheet thrown in with the WVU, Big 12 announcement today said WVU finished in the BCS top 25 five out of the last six years.

I could have read it wrong as my eyes were still watering from laughter when I read the Big 12 commish mention WVU and fine academics in the same sentence.
