Take it for what it's worth, but there's some smoke out there. Same on twitter.

If true, this will bring some finality to expansion, for better or worse.

First of all, if the WVU board tells me it's sunny I'm grabbing my umbrella.

But, on the off chance it's true, why would that be a good thing for us?

In what alternate univverse is losing the only original BE football team and our top rival, and one of the best remaining basketball&football program in Louisville a good thing?

The one positive thing I could see here is this is a move by the Big 12 to get WVU early by more or less colluding to kill Big East football now. Basically, they tell the ACC, you take these teams, we'll take these teams, no one will be left, and we'll all get our desired teams sooner. In this scenario, if the Big 12 takes UL and RU, the ACC takes us and probably ND. The outliers seem to become Cincy and USF, I have trouble seeing the ACC really wanting either, maybe Cincinnati if ND balks at joining. If it can be worked out that those two then merge into the merged MWC-CUSA, and the five new Big East teams join that league, everything could be quashed and done with, and there won't be anymore ridiculous lawsuits.

That said, I can't find anything on Twitter about this. In fact, the only relevant tweet I could find after multiple searches was this: https://twitter.com/#!/ScoutTexas/status/155370889712648192 Which is a ridiculous tweet, considering it links to a post by one of our guys on the Texas board asking if they'd like to have us.

The WVU board has its share of loonies and them some. They also have a dog in the hunt because they want the BE to implode. It's the Blue/Gold board.

As far-fetched as Rutgers to the Big 12 is, if BYU is a no go, Rutgers might be its only option. Little chance that putative BE schools SMU or Houston get an invite. If RU is talking Big 12 I'm sure Herbst knows about it.

Check out the supposed RU fan that posted it on the WVU Conf. Realignment board. His last post was 2 months ago with the exact same info. That he was "told" that LVille and RU are next and it's "just a matter of when". I wouldn't bet the farm. Also, his screen name makes him out to be an RU fan. Why is he only posting on the WVU board? Again, as was mentioned here, you've got posters on the WVU board who, at this point, just want to see nothing less than the destruction of the BE.

If all that was posted here was noncrap, then what a lonely place this would be.

As far as Rutgers and Louisville leaving for the Big 12 as causing the destruction of the Big East, so long as Notre Dame can keep its independence the BE will live.

Why do you need to post this crap?

The only way this is a positive is if it forces the ACC to move on Rutgers and we get to tag along. Otherwise this is bad news.

That said, i don't believe it.

Yeah, I'm a Rutgers fan (lurking here on occasion) and I've never heard of that screen name. I think it's just WVU fans trolling themselves.

I don't see it. The only way B-12 schools buy into this is if it ensured the destruction of the BE in time to get WVU there next year. Who says that even if the ACC goes on to take UCONN and ND that USF Cinn. and the BB schools wouldnt hold everyone to the 27 month rule? Needless to say not going to happen

As I've been saying, the Big 12 > the ACC.

I'm not sure that people are arguing the B12 is worse than the ACC in sports, at worst they are comparable in basketball and lightyears ahead in football. The problem with the B12 is the same problem with the Big East, STABILITY. OU wanted P12, and will again in a few years, and Texas is a premadonna and several members have left the conference because of them.
While people keep talking about the ACC being ripe for picking by other conferences, I have to disagree. No ACC team is going B12, the academics don't line up. While people keep saying that football money powers everything, a few million extra in football money is nothing compared to grants that schools get (often associated with conference affilitiation.) FSU's president laid this out pretty clearly.
So, while I'd much rather play Texas and Oklahoma over Clemson and FSU, I'd prefer not to be dealing with defections from the conference again in a few years if we do leave the Big East.

If the Big 12 can get Notre Dame to come into the conference, I am sure Texas would be appeased and stability would be established. It may be in the best interests of Notre Dame to head south given the growing Latino Catholic population. Might as well call ND the "Fightin' Latinos" one day.

This is the least likely scenario in my mind... It's either the B1G or the ACC if the Big East becomes untenable. The stupid thing for the ACC is that all it might take for the Big East to finally give up the ghost and become very unattractive to Notre Dame is to grab UConn... but it seems like a gamble they just don't want to take. I think mainly because of the fact that Notre Dame might go to the B1G if they ACC does that.

The is no chance that Notre Dame is going to park themselves in the Big 12.

It will never, ever happen.

The Big 12 will almost certainly add Louisville and they'll exist happily until the PAC 12 and Texas get over their differences.

She'd be a hermaphrodite. If she looked like a girl, I am assuming she'd still be a queen.

Whatever the deal, all eyes are on ND. They are probably sitting back right now, sipping their tea.

For those of you who follow message board rumor- mongering, a supposed KU insider who frequents the Louisville site wrote that he heard this same rumor over the weekend.

The normal realignment bottom feeders, Frankthetank and Greg Swaim think it will happen. The Thamels, McMurphys, Blevins, (yes even Chip"Deloss" Brown) et al are silent.
