(CBS Connecticut) — After 34 years, WTIC’s Scott Gray Friday morning announced he is retiring, effective October 3.

Scott joined WTIC Radio in January of 1981 as the sports anchor on the “Bob Steele Show”. He has continued to provide Connecticut radio listeners with their morning sports news for nearly 34 years. His sports commentary has become a fixture of the show; anticipated by both the serious and casual sports fan.

Scott’s last day will be Friday, October 3rd. Bob Joyce, WTIC Producer and the play-by-play announcer for UConn Women’s Basketball will anchor the morning sports reports until a permanent replacement is named.

Where will we get our realignment news and predictions? Scott was always spot on... Upon further review, I guess we'll be OK. Back to listening to The Dude & HFD.

Conspiracy Kitty says:
No doubt Gray needs the time to put together his "UConn Day" recommendations for Big Ten Network.
The pieces keep coming together.

Newsflash: Scott Gray to retire in 20 minutes.

Clearly, the B1G forced him to retire to leaking news of their plan to add UConn.

It's all in the tea leaves!

Absolutely a forced retirement. UCONN signed a privacy clause with the B1G and Scott Gray. Gray clearly broke his end of the bargain.
