OT: Wrestling gone wrong

I was expecting worse than that. Weird to see that in the ring but it's 2025 and I'm jaded.

The initial slam did didn't look like anything out of the norm for wrestling. Kind of wonder if the guy was already concussed. It was pretty impressive how effortless it was for Jackson. But then all of a sudden you see him actually landing one blow after another on an unconscious guy and you realize something is very wrong.

His father has said his son was wrong, but he's worried that his son has a concussion from sparing and shouldn't have been involved in any physical activity.

“I don’t condone my son’s actions AT ALL! He suffered a concussion from sparring only days ago and had no business doing anything remotely close to physical contact.”

Attempted murder charges seem appropriate. That was premeditated, hopefully the wrestler Stu Smith isn't dead or brain damaged.

There are other young people making videos to defend Rampage Jackson's son, it's incredibly sick.

He'll claim it was 'roid rage or his concussion or both. That's never a legitimate defense as far as I'm concerned.
 
No excuse for this. Stu smashed the can on Jackson's head earlier in the night to generate heat for when Raja interfered in the match, very normal thing to do at a wrestling event. He also apologized 3 separate times.

Ref stoppage in UFC would have happened after like the 2nd punch, and a trained fighter would be very aware that they were ground and pounding a completely defenseless, unconscious person. Personally, I wouldn't hate seeing them throw the book at someone who livestreams something like that. There was just that French streamer who died "...endur[ing] apparent violence, sleep deprivation, and public humiliation as part of staged challenges aimed at generating attention and revenue." The streaming space keeps getting more and more sinister.

Yeah, the pick up and slam wasn't anything out of the ordinary and yes I agree it's likely he was concussed when his head hit the mat. Fortunately most of the punches were to the jaw and not near the temple or the ears.

That wrestling promotion will be out of business soon enough. No way they have protocols in place for drug-testing and cognitive testing of all performers before they go in the ring.

I'd also be interested in knowing if the wrestling promotion had l'il Jackson or his team sign any forms stating he is in good physical and mental health prior to letting him in to the ring.

It wasnt MMA. It was a wrestling (fake wrestling) match. There was some inadvertent drama beforehand with the kid. They brought the kid back out to "perform" wrestling and he ended up actually punching the guy in the face a bunch of times.

It was bad enough with young YouTube content producers and livestreamers pranking and harassing old people at stores for views. There seems to be a new level of sinister that desperately needs to stop. I guess it's always been around, we had bumfights before this but things are getting worse.

The spot wasn't set up by the promotion. The wrestler Stu Smith thought Rampage Jackson's son was another wrestler because Raja Jackson showed up with a film crew. He had a stare down with him and did the empty soda can slap to his head which is an old wrestling gimmick/trick to hype up the event, he even said to him right after, "are you going to sell it."

Once he figured out he isn't a fellow wrestler Smith apologized to him three times and explained he thought he was a worker "another wrestler" and Raja Jackson accepted the apology said he understood it and shook his hand. The slap with the can didn't hurt him at all but apparently it bruised his ego so badly he thought he should try and kill the guy later in the ring. It all would've been fine if he jumped into the ring and did the unfortunate slam which knocked Smith unconscious. It would've been chalked up as an unfortunate mistake because he doesn't know how to wrestle but that's not what happened. Instead he went off on an unconscious man slugging him 23 times in the head.

He's not a kid, he's 25 years old. He should spend a long time behind bars.

This kind of stuff has always been out there. The scary thing is that it's way more popular than it used to be. Mostly because it can be monetized. So many kids and young adults want to be influencers and doing dangerous things and rage bait is the most accessible way to gain popularity.
 
Far be it from me to tell anyone where to find their entertainment but what is this rinky-dink promotion? Where would you find this to watch? It looks like they're staging this in a VFW or something.
