No other way around it.
Tough to win when you only make them defend two players. Just sayin. . . . .
Very bad loss. Very rare to see no energy from the team at Gampel. Not ready to go from the opening tip and looked soft in the 2nd half. Oh well, just one loss.
Exactly. No offensive plays worked. Either credit their defense or our inability to run a set.Tough to win when you only make them defend two players. Just sayin. . . . .
Nothing like the sky is falling, our program is dead because of one loss posts. There are huge huge consequences to just "one loss". In terms of seedings. In terms of exposure. In terms of rankings.
fleudslipcon said:My major concern is that LK and NG have been getting beat on defense a lot in the last three games. It didn't bite UConn in the two previous games because SN and RB had decent offensive production. Without any production on offense defense is the way to win.

Absurd and plain stupid
Agree they're normally very good defenders, but for whatever reason they have been off in their play. LK more so than NG. It happens to almost every player, in every sport at some point in the season. It's coming now for them which is better than tournament time. Hopefully they regain their confidence/spark.Problem here is they're our better defenders. At one point we had bazz, boat, daniels, calhoun, and nolan on the floor. That's a horrible defensive lineup.
There are absolutely consequences. You know it, I know it and the team knows it. And that's the problem. Look how intense you are over UConn's performance and the consequences. What's the difference between you and the players. They're not robots. They're human beings and the consequences of winning and losing are greater for them than you and me. So they played tightly and that caused them to miss shots they normally make and it made them play tentatively. They'll have to deal with it and we'll have to deal with it.Your right being ranked in the top 25 is not important for exposure.
And there are no consequences for failing to show up and losing to a beatable team. We were a 6 seed with a 20-5 record before this loss. That record in our old league would get us a 3 seed. Apparently seeding doesn't matter for us anyways because if you can't beat SMU you at home you can lose to just about any team no matter where we our seeded.
And there are no consequences to playing Memphis on their home floor in the conference tourney instead of Houston.
None at all.

Saying there is consequences to losing is like saying the sky is blue, thanks for the brilliant insight.Your right being ranked in the top 25 is not important for exposure.

When the jumpers aren't falling, this team has zilch in terms of a post presence that can deliver a bucket down low to settle things down. SMU took away our ability to run today and the jumpers weren't falling. We have no other offensive options than those two things. Yeah our small guards can get to the tin, but against a slow it down, grind it out defense, you get less of those types of points.
They're a bad match up for us. If our jumpers aren't falling, it will be tough to beat them. Louisville is also a bad match up for us. We are a bad match up for other teams. Just the way it goes, but we really have no post offense and at certain times that is a major detriment for us.We won 20+ games.
We have beaten really good teams.
The way some of you describe our team you wonder how we won any games.
What your really describing is that SMU out game planned and out executed us. They were better prepared today. That is disappointing.
