SMU
Boise
SDSU

Fresno

Here is the worst case scenario:

Rutgers and Maryland to Big 10
Louisville and Cincinnati to Big 12
ACC holds tight with 13 programs
Basketball schools cry uncle, walk away, add Butler, Xavier, VCU, few others.
Navy wants nothing to do with the leftovers, never shows up. BYU and Air Force stop returning phone calls.

Boise, SDSU, Houston, SMU, UCF, Memphis, USF, Temple, UConn huddle up, decide to be the best of the rest, add New Mexico, Fresno, Nevada, ECU, UMass.

West: Boise, SDSU, Houston, SMU, New Mexico, Fresno, Nevada or UNLV
East: UConn, UMass, ECU, Memphis, USF, UCF, Temple

All sports league with tons of travel, almost no drivable games, 4 bid league for hoops, and $5MM/school TV contract.

Craptastic.

At that point (high travel cost, undesireable opponents, no exposure, and pocket change) why wouldn't Uconn go independent?

You forgot the loss of income for the BY for ad views due to a Jonestown meet up under the scoreboard at the Rent for the Cincy game.

At that point (high travel cost, undesireable opponents, no exposure, and pocket change) why wouldn't Uconn go independent?

So we could play 8 road games a year? How does that help the travel budget?
