How on earth is Charisma Osborne on this list over Khayla Pointer? More specifically, how is Khayla Pointer not on this list?

Call me crazy but if you don't have your team on track to be an NCAA tournament team, you shouldn't be on the list (Osborne, Howard).

Also, Olivia Miles deserves to be on here too.

Cunane seems like another who is there based on name/reputation. She's been really up and down this season, pretty hard to say she's been one of the 20 best players. I guess they have to have somebody from the Wolfpack since they've been in the Top 5 all year.

The team isn't, but we've seen great players on bad teams. If we go by the team performance...players like Clark might be eliminated.
It's always debatable--is this an individual award or a team award? Yes a very good player from a mediocre team can find themselves among the finalists. My issue is w/ Maryland having 2 out of the 20. 1 on the list, fine, no problem. I just can't see having 2 though. If they really 2 have 2 outstanding players, then their record should be better.

Midseason Naismith team is released.

Looks more comprehensive than Wooden, but still disappointing that Madi Williams/Taylor Robertson get no consideration from Oklahoma. Their numbers are:
Robertson:
Williams: 18.6 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 2.9 apg, 47% FG
Robertson: 18.0 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 3.5 apg, 2.2 A/TO ratio, 49% FG, 47% 3pt, 95% FT

Individually those numbers are better those most players on this list, and both have played great in big games. Furthermore, Oklahoma is probably the most overachieving team this year, starting out 20-3, #12 in the country, and in 1st place in the Big 12.

Totally agree. To add to that, OU has no inside presence (a fact Ayoka Lee is intimately aware of), so the team is heavily dependent on the sustained excellence of these two.

There have been some phenomenal coaching jobs this year—Mulkey, Finley, Walz, and more—but the job OU’s new coach has done has been nothing short of transcendent. This is a really dangerous, high-powered offense with a ton of upset potential.
