Dunno, that is more a result of SD losing their #1 RB than anything else. DB is still in the stable with Woodhead and the little UBuffalo guy.

I hope he sticks there, but from the comment sections on the Chargers website the majority of the fans thinks he terrible. Unfortunately for DB he's one of the players that gets better with more carries and SD just isn't going to give him the work load.

Considering the Chargers traded a 2015 4th & a 2016 5th to move up 2 spots to take a running back ... I don't put too much faith in their front office's decision making. IMHO they could have used that 4th round pick on a RB in this year's draft and come away with a player equal to Gordon's value.

He's constantly injured. Not a lot more that you can say. When he hasn't been hurt he's been productive.

AND... They made that trade to jump a team with Arian Foster starting at RB. They just threw away two draft picks.

The Niners may have taken Gordon.

Regarding Brown, he's already outlived the average shelf life of an NFL RB. He'll be fine.

He's shown some flashes, especially as a dual threat but just hasn't gotten the burn. Pass blocking is still suspect too. I think he is who he is now and hope he gets one more contract in the league. Kind of like Dan O - stay around a long time, make some bank, don't take a pounding and be sure to have a plan post-football which I know he does.

They couldn't have wanted him that bad considering they traded away the chance to draft him.

Brown averaged 2.6 YPC last year?

50/50 he's out of the league.

$3 million to keep. $1.1 million in dead money to cut.

Donald Brown would be the perfect NYG nothing flashy, doesn't turn it over, can pass block, and he is from NJ.

Donald has survived longer than most RB's do in the NFL. The days of Jim Brown, Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith, Tony Dorsett, etc are over.

RB's are a dime a dozen. DB has made it to his third contract.

I wish him luck going forward and hope he gets a chance a play so long as he is healthy.

For some context Reggie Bush got a one year deal that is worth a max of 2.5 million.

In Donald's favor is that San Diego seems to be about the worst run franchise in the league.

So maybe they spend 3 million on their fourth string running back after making one of the worst trades in history to move up 2 picks.

Agreed, but imagine having wasted a #1 on him. 2600 total rushing yards in 6 seasons. I was surprised he was a #1, he never seemed fast or very dynamic.

He only had 85 carries in 2014 and averaged less than 3 YPC. I doubt he makes the Chargers roster this year, maybe he can find another home.
