This weekend will probably go a long way in determining whether or not the UConn women’s soccer team makes the six team AAC conference tournament at the beginning of November.  UConn women’s soccer team is currently in 5th place in the AAC standings with 6 points and a 2-2 record.  UConn has lost to Cincinnati and Memphis, who are currently in 3rd and 4th in the conference with 10 points each, and the Huskies have beaten Tulsa and East Carolina, who combined have one win in the AAC so far.  This weekend UConn plays at home against Houston and SMU, two more of the lesser lights in the conference with one win in the AAC between them.  UConn needs to win these games to have a good chance at making the tournament.  That is because the following weekend UConn will be on the road against Central Florida and South Florida, two teams that are running away in the AAC standings with 16 and 15 points respectively.   I suspect the Huskies will be hard pressed to pick up any points in the standings against the Florida schools, so UConn need to take care of business at home this weekend.
