I don't watch many (any) women's games so I hesitate to suggest it should be more like the men's game.

I did watch the final minutes of regulation, and some of the OT and it was frustrating watching the women play fantastic defense in the backcourt and Notre Dame have little anxiety about moving the ball forward.

ive never understood why there isn't one. in fact, my girlfriend asked me last night while watching the men if there were any major rule differences b/t men and women and this was the main one i cited, and she asked why it's the case - I had absolutely no idea. from a physicality standpoint, it's irrelevant, it doesn't really add to or reduce the overall speed of the game because of the 30 second shot clock, it really makes no sense.

That's a rule that needs to be changed.

I think you all overlook some significant differences between the women's game and the men's game.

Most significantly is the parity among the teams in the men's game.

There is a vast difference between the talent and abilities of these top 4 teams in teh women's game and everyone else.

Face it, UConn destroyed many teams by 30, 40 points and more, this season, as did ND, Baylor and Stanford.

While I would agree that the games played among these 4 top tier teams could use a 10 second rule... Imposing that, broadly, would simply mean more games won 75-0, or 85-6 during the course of the season....

If anything, the woman's NCAA tournament could be improved by starting out with the Elite 8. The other 56 teams can just stay home...

It's stupid to press full court when there's no 10-second clock. It's very draining on your players and the benefit is minimal. Geno's teams tend to rush. It's one thing to play up tempo, but they sometimes seem to be in too much of a hurry on offense. They were better lately however. Also, they need to use the low post more.

Don't know about 10 seconds but they need something. If there was a clock you would see more of a pressing game.

If a team normally starts running their offense with 20 seconds left is not starting to run it at 10, I think the press has done exactly what you want it to.

At least there's still a backcourt violation.

Still, without the pressure of a 10-sec violation, it seems like high risk and low reward. It also spreads out your defense.

I agree. As a women's basketball fan and girl's high school basketball coach, I welcome the 10-second rule change for the women's game at the college level. It needs to be added.

If 10 seconds isn't workable go to 15 seconds for backcourt violation but unlimited doesn't work.

If they had a ten second rule like the men, there would be no upsets, ever. There's no way a mid-major or non elite team could get the ball up the court in ten seconds against a team like Uconn. So the women's game compromised and they have a 30 second shot clock as opposed to a 35 second shot clock for the men.

The lack of a 10-second rule is to keep the lesser teams from getting totally destroyed. There is still a shot clock rolling so its not like there isn't an eventual rush to shoot. If a Hofstra had to get the ball up court in 10 seconds against UConn they would be murdered. Murdered more gruesomely than they would with the lack of a 10 second rule.
