I don't know how much faith you can put into these things before a significant number of games has been played. it seems like there is some doubt about our offensive efficiency. I really think our offense is going to be our identity this year. We have a lot of young shooting talent. On the defensive side it is going to be challenging to replace everything that Nika and Aaliyah brought to the table, though I do think that Jana gives us an intimidating paint presence.

We should be okay on the OER scale. Not sure if you took that site for a test spin but we have been pretty solid with offensive efficiency over the years. On this site, and I am sure the same can be said for other sites, UConn is top 5 in offensive efficiency. I kind of hope that our defense is our identity. If we are aggressive on defense, it just opens up our offensive game. The type of talent we have, if Coach decides to turn the squad loose like a bunch of crazed dogs in attack mode! I just see this squad playing like the 1994-95 Arkansas Razorbacks on the men's side of basketball when they played with the 40 minutes of Hell Mindset. Pace and Space.

I am familiar with torvik on the men's side. My guess is that defense may take a while. By January or February we should be pretty good, but early on I think we will need to be patient. Offense always comes easier especially for young players. I think we may be more impressive than people realize right out of the gate.

Looks interesting, I use herhoopstats.com and basketball-reference.com quite a bit and they are quite good, but looks like I need to add this one as well. To me the main advantage of advanced stats is when they adjust for both pace and level of competition, and sometimes they do. Player efficiency ratings, (PER) do a good job of coming up with a stat that measures overall effectiveness, at least with regards to anything that has a statistic relating to it, and it adjusts for pace by measuring against a common denominator like per 100 possessions.

What it lacks, is anything that can't be measured with a stat, and an adjustment for the level of competition. I think the BPM stat on this site does that, as a similar stat on the basketball-reference site does also. Anyway looks interesting.
