Rebecca is pretty much a household name. She is has been at the vanguard as a player, a pro-level women's baller, as a color commentator, and as the face of a program that won 10 NCs in 21 seasons.

I think that puts her place in history in Springfield, MA.

Your point is fair, but one can only get into the HOF as a player, a coach, a referee, or a contributor; Not as a combination of factors.
1. She had two very good college seasons, one of which was rather stellar, one national championship, albeit one that lives on in memory.
2. Her pro career does not get her in
3. If Doris Burke gets in as a color commentator, that might crack open the contributor door, but that is a narrow opening.
4. The face of the UConn program 20 years after her last game? That is a stretch.
5. Ms Lobo is, in fact, a household name. Will that pass muster with the Honors Committee?

I would argue that Lobo did do a great deal to popularize the women's game.

I don't think she is a lock by any means, but may get there in the end. As VAU points out, her playing career would not get her in, so it becomes the intangibles as a "contributor". I would have no problem either way, but would love to know what factor weighed the most (for or against) when the votes are taken.

I think she is certainly an important figure in the game at an historic/transitional moment, but I don't think her credentials, compared to the number of great players and coaches she is competing with, stand up. Just from a player stand point, the number of players with multiple NCs, multiple Olympic and WC gold medals, professional championships and stats ... she is the figurehead along with Jen of Uconn's transition from competitor to champion and she gave an all too brief spark to the pro-leagues first seasons, but ...

That is really easy - whatever factors the voter can site when asked to justify his/her decision!

It's gotta be an "agree to disagree" scenario here. Certainly, UConn WCBB is as significant a phenomenon as you'll find isport. Only a handful of teams has won 11 championships since 1950: Yankees 1953-2009, Lakers 1972-2010, and Celtics 1957-58, 60-66, and 1969-69. Big 4 league championships aren't the same as a WCBB NC by any means at all, but they're analogous. 11 championships in 22 seasons- not guaranteed by any stretch- makes UConn WBB as large a Footprint on the sport 'as there is, NFL Lobo's television, npoy award, WBCA AA awards, and national championship memories, make Rebecca like KISS. Certainly, UConn WBB calls up the face of Rebecca more immediately to me than does another face...Gene Simmons included.

Lobo is nominated as a player. She had excellent numbers in college, injuries limited her pro career.

Jennifer Azzi is nominated as a player. One could argue her college and USA career was better than Lobo's career.

Teresa Weatherspoon is nominated as a player. She was the face of the NY Liberty, even when Lobo was on the team. Had an outstanding college and pro career.

Pearl Moore scored 4,000 points, more than anyone in women's college basketball history.

Sheryl Swoopes is nominated as a player. No contest she belongs in any hall of fame.

Then there is Muffet McGraw, Leta Andrews, Kim Mulkey among others as coaches.

Remember only four women can be finalists, prior to this year it was two.

I find it very difficult to justify the player Rebecca Lobo against the competition. Eventually as a contributor, I can see that better.

If CD is not in the coach discussion, I don't want to hear about the others
