OT: Woeful attendance at the NCAA Soccer Final Four.

I haven't seen any figures on attendance, but I watched all three games (2 semis and the Final).

The games were played in a lovely soccer specific stadium near Atlanta. All seats have seat backs (no bleachers). At most, the stadium seats 4000 people; and more than half the seats were empty. Three of the four teams in the tournament were from the ACC (Duke, Wake Forest, and FSU). It was really sad to see so many empty seats for a premium college sports event.

While Husky fans are agonizing about "only 7,000 fans" at Gampel for a non-competitive game, these premier soccer games couldn't draw half that number of fans. SAD.

The criticism though goes to Atlanta and not the schools. Atlanta no doubt applied to host the event and clearly failed to draw in crowds. Wasnt it outside of Dallas recently - how did attendance compare?

It's tough to blame the schools when it would be an extended car ride in the midst of exam season. Also, the fact that the closest schools are private doesn't help either.
