Only one second-round game of the WNIT remains to be played. That would be tomorrow's Abilene Christian @ SMU matchup.
Tulane raced out to a 38-19 halftime lead over Grambling State and then coasted to a 66-49 win. Tulane next plays at Alabama in the round of 16.
UCF played Georgia Tech tooth-and-nail until the final few minutes. UCF went ahead 49-47 with 4:38 to play, but then went cold and was outscored 16-2 the rest of the way. GT had wins this season over Missouri and Syracuse and was just a few nail-biter losses away from a possible at-large bid. UCF, playing this game at Georgia Tech, competed very well but is surely disappointed with those final 4 minutes.
Nine of today's 12 games were won by the home team. The only visiting teams to win today were Colorado (in overtime at South Dakota State), Villanova (at Drexel), and UC Davis (at Colorado State).
The only power-5 teams that lost today were Virginia (at James Madison) and Wake Forest (at MTSU). Virginia Tech, Penn State, Indiana, and Alabama all advanced, in addition to Georgia Tech.
One intriguing subplot: St. John's handled Harvard to set up a game against its former coach, now at Michigan.
