I was at the 2011 game watching USC(west coast) lose the game to Toledo. Town went nuts for the Rockets. Fans were friendly, although there were only about 15 USC family and friends who made the trip.

Virtually all the years of the NCAAT Final Four are sold out. The problem has been the regionals for the NCAAT and is why #1. They want to try just 2 sites for next year #2. They assign the top teams to the closest regional to their campus #3. Why certain venues bid to host the regional knowing certain close by teams will probably be assigned to their regional-see Bridgeport/Albany and Greensboro.

Hosting regionals is a big task for those host schools which in Bridgeport's case, fall on the Fairfield/Sacred Heart Athletic Departments.

Gary Blair after his last game listed it as among the 4 best highlights of his career along with a HS state championship, his 2011 championship and I forget the 4th, but his inclusion of the WNIT I thought was noteworthy.

I was at the 2014 UTEP - Rutgers game in El Paso. Watched 12,180 fans fall silent. Only Rutgers fans were the team comps, and except for our couple of rows behind the bench seating was all general admission - apparently there was an awesome "run" in. There was a religious revival scheduled for the arena, but the preacher agreed to move outside for the day to permit the game.

Remember, for the WNIT, you are actually bidding dollars to the organization that runs it. Arizona had the 6 home games, and at the point where it was "doubtful" that we would host, the athletic department sweetened the offer by adding in concessions. The payoff was the huge crowds, larger every round, and generating interest (and season tix) for the future.

That sounds about the same as a USC home game.

And I used to know every one of them.
In the 2011 WNIT USC hosted UC Santa Barbara and I believe the attendance was 250.
UCSB had 2 bus loads of fans make the trip, to spice up the noise at Galen.
After that game USC played the remaining games on the road at BYU, Nevada, Colorado(they were in Big 12 then) Illinois State and finally at Toledo.
