Hey there:
Yes, we've got WCBB starting up (very) shortly and many international leagues are already in play. However, there's still activity in the WNBA, so I figured I'd post a thread on Nov. 1st to center it.
Here's the first entry: The Dallas Wings have hired Latricia Trammell as their new head coach, according to Howard Megdal (see link below).

After awhile, the tag given to the Wings "a lot of young talent" will no longer be true, so GM Greg Bibb had better hope that this coach can figure out how best to maximize the talent she has. Defense is her calling card. Will that affect who stays/goes? Marina Mabrey is a restricted free agent. Izzy Harrison and Alisha Gray were not happy campers under Coach Vicki Johnson. Will they be assuaged by the new hire? Or, if defense is paramount, will Bibb/Trammell look for the return of Bella Alarie? Stay tuned.

I am not convinced Alarie will survive in this new stretch WNBA. I did not see any special defensive skills from her either? She seems to have carved out a good European footprint.

I'll beg to differ on the defensive front. In her last active WNBA year, many credible WNBA beat writers thought she was worthy of consideration for 2nd team or honorable mention on defense. She was well conditioned that year and ran the floor well. Now, does she have the offensive skill set for the WNBA or has she improved it, a la Megan Gustafsson? Don't think so. But I don't think believe she's a write-off to international circuits either. Unlike a number of draft choices, she developed a way to contribute to the team.

Now, Greg Bibb's on his ??? coach, so we'll see which way he and Coach Trammell want to go. For instance, if Izzy Harrison and/or Charli Collier move on from Dallas, there's a role there. Sabally is not a post, not is Kueir. Of course, the other question is does Ms. Alarie want to come back to Dallas? To the WNBA? Stay tuned.

I agree 100% , her taking a year off only allowed others to fill her void . Although id rather have alarie than collier neither have proven themselves enough to deserve a spot after taking a year off by choice. I would not invest much time or money into a player who needs a break after 1 season of play without making an impact on the team .McCowan , Sabally , Kueir , and whomever we draft late first round should shore up the front without either or Collier / Alarie next season . Sucks though bc alarie may have taken the year off with coaches permission and that coach is now gone. I won't say the GM gave permission bc he is known for not following through on promises and cut throat cuts along with firings have been his mantra.

Cheryl Reeve gets extension, promotion to Lynx president

Cheryl Reeve will return to the WNBA's Minnesota Lynx as head coach after signing a multiyear contract extension while also moving from general manager to president of basketball operations, the organization announced Thursday.

Reeve has served as head coach in Minnesota since 2010, compiling 281 regular-season wins, the most in the league in that span. She is one of two coaches who have won more than 65% of games in their careers, with a minimum of 100 games coached.

The Lynx won four championships under Reeve (in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017) and made the playoffs for 11 consecutive seasons until that streak was snapped following a 14-22 campaign in 2022. Her 41 career playoff victories (with a .661 winning percentage in the postseason) are a league-best mark.

The news of the extension comes following speculation that Reeve -- a three-time WNBA Coach of the Year and one-time league Executive of the Year -- could be poached by another franchise in the offseason, particularly as the Lynx transition to new ownership under Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez. It looks like Reeve will be part of that organization for years to come, and at a very handsome salary too. :)

Anyone know what the difference is between the duties GM and president of basketball operations? They call it a promotion — is it more work?

If Stewie decides to leave Seattle, then Minnesota with Collier is a good place to start. Good coach, and a rising superstar.
Get Ezi to come along in a trade, and you have a contender.

I would love that combo here in Minnesota. Stewie and Collier. Hopefully Coach Reeves can get the Lynx roster figured out

Everyone acts amazed, but you will never get the best coaches in the WNBA. Div 1 colleges pay better.

Fever get #1 pick. Lynx get #2. Damn, she would have fit nice for Lynx. Maybe Boston is so pissed, she does not play so well tonight.

Would love to have Aliyah Boston playing here in Minnesota. But #2 there are quite a few other players that could fit well in Minneapolis. Elizabeth Kitley (Virginia Tech), if we are going with a post player. Diamond Miller could be a nice addition. But congrats to Indiana. Hopefully this is the pick to help get that franchise going in the right direction.
