Found this a bit interesting on CNNSI: "The 2014 WNBA Draft averaged 413,000 viewers on ESPN2, the second most-watched WNBA Draft in network history and up nine percent from last year's much-hyped draft. Baseball fans will be interested in this: The 2013 MLB Draft last June on MLB Network drew 277,000 viewers."

Well also you are looking at ESPN2 vs MLB Network.

To me, the MLB draft is the worst draft to watch because you may support a kid and they may get drafted, but they never get a sniff at the Majors. As someone who has had a friend sandwich pack after first round in 99), a kid I coached (30th round in 2007), and kids I have coached against drafted (1st round 2007) and more, the draft is almost pointless. I do like the baseball system where you can go immediately after high school or you have to wait after your junior year of college - unless you attend a community or junior college.

Agree - the MLB draft is mostly about 3-5 years down the line as so few players go from college straight to the majors and I don't think anyone ever gets there immediately from HS. Really hard to get that excited about draftees that will not make the big club for years.

You guys miss the real news. Viewership was up in my house from the last year's heavily publicized Big 3. Definitely Probably because of more UConn Duke stars.

Fixed

Duke? Isn't that where Alana Beard plays?

This was the first year I ever watched the WNBA draft. There seemed to be a lot of players who have a more than good chance to play and stay in the WNBA for years to come if desired. In fact, I thought a lot of teams missed the boat on at least one player (Jennifer Schlott) but she got a training camp invitation and I think she'll make the most of it.

Have the past drafts been as deep (IMO) as this one?

I happened on it by accident. Was surfing and when I saw it I knew I had to see where Stef and Dols went. I had never watched on before. One of the draftees had some facial hair...creepy.
