What do you think of the new WNBA "Commissioner's Cup" format?
I like that there may be a monetary and peer pressure incentive for teams to take the first part of the season more seriously. Early game are a who's who of missing players most years.
With the change to the playoff format a few years ago, conference play diminished in importance. This gives conference play a boost in urgency, at least for those 10 select games.
The new CBA increases the "have and have not" pay structure... big contracts for stars and little left over under the cap. At least young players or lower paid role-playing vets (endangered species) have a chance to earn more during the season from this "tourney".
