Angel has surprised me this year. Not sure why the change or maybe the influence but she is more selfless.

I think the right connection between a coach and a player is a catalyst for change. Watch the first few minutes of this interview with Angel a month ago.

I heard during a recent ESPN covered Dream game the announcers talking about Cooper and how he spent a couple of weeks in Turkey this past year watching Angel and meeting with her. Talked about her needing to be more of a team player, that one person alone can not win a championship.
Also heard last night a brief interview with Tiff Hayes, and she was talking about the "new" Angel. She said that when when Angel is sharing the ball and including her teammates, they are a team to be feared.
It is nice to see her growth (and maturity) in this area.

I bet a lot of people didn't vote for EDD since she started having the health problems.

I don't see how it could. it was the people who voted and helped determine this list.

Why not Shoni? I voted for her. I like her game, attitude, and style. I agree that some people are going to be upset. What with her getting the most votes in the East for guards at 25,601, 3rd behind Maya (28,389) and EDD (26,129). She beat some of the leagues giants!! Way to go, Shoni.

Bentley not being on the ballot pretty much guaranteed Shoni would be voted in. I was using the "write-in" feature to vote Bentley, but most people won't, so who else was it going to be?

Has Catchings played at all this year?
She has played in 2 games, and one of them was last night (after the voting was completed). Obviously she got the votes based on her past performance while Schimmel got voted in based on her perceived future performance.

Actually, due to a well organized voting bloc.

I'm a known Shoni critic and I don't have a problem with it. There aren't that many good guards in the East. Prince is better than Shoni but she missed a ton of time.

She plays with flair, so she'll be fun to watch in an All-Star environment.

Of interest to me: All of the West starters are ranked in the #7 in the league in Player Efficiency Rating aka PER (according to Basketball Reference). Here's the top 10 (West starters in bold):

1. Maya Moore
2. Candace Parker
3. Brittney Griner
4. Diana Taurasi

5. Nneka Ogwumike
6. Erika de Souza
7. Skylar Diggins
8. Chiney Ogwumike
9. Angel McCoughtry
10. Tina Charles.

Delle Donne would be #3, but is not on BR's list, presumably not having played enough games.

Do WNBA players have bonus incentives in their contracts (making an All-Star game)?
