Tomorrow is Ricky Moore's opportunity to win one by proxy that he should have won almost 20 years ago.
The last time we played Kansas was Jan 19, 1997. Kansas was ranked #1, and visited us. It was the first game of Ricky Moore's suspension, and our first game without Kirk King.
We lost by 8 points. Without our freshman starting point guard and senior big man.
Ricky was averaging about 5.5 assists. No one else on the team averaged even 2. Kirk King, who was ostensibly a 4, but since we usually played without a true center that year until we lost Kirk, he was our defacto 5. Between the two of them, they averaged 21 points, a dozen boards, 7 assists and almost 58 minutes a game. They were our 3rd and 4th leading scorers, and our team leaders in rebounds, steals and assists. Not to mention Ricky leading the universe in defensive balls. And we had to play the #1 ranked team without them. It would be like not having Jalen and Shonn tomorrow.
But worse.
Tomorrow in DesMoines, Coach Moore will be on the sidelines, finally with the chance to help knock off the Jayhawks.
Time to win one for Ricky, guys!
